I'm going to be buying a GeForce 4 ti4600 soon, like 2 weeks or whenever it is I get paid again...so, I found this : http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?action=info&AvdID=&CatID=&GrpID=&p=22940&s=fp a GeForce 4 ti4600 128meg ram card for £202 incl. Is this a good card? Or is it worth the extra £50 or whatever for a Leadtek or Gainward? EDIT : I have heard the fans on the Asus cards are not that good but I'll be replacing that anyway with Thermaltake's fan kit EDIT #2 : Just read a bit about the Albetron brand of cards, the 4600 is £229 @ OCS, and apparently it's a very good card, any views on this, does anybody have one?
Generally Asus cards are pretty good, but I wouldn't buy that one as its 'bulk' or OEM kit. According to the specs on Kompletts site it has a 10Mhz slower core clock than the usual Ti4600 spec, plus being OEM means its unlikely to come with any games or extra software. Expect the bare card in a white box and maybe a DVI-VGA converter, but that'd be all. If you're looking for a cheap Ti4600 then Dabs have the PNY one for £188 odd, which is pretty much the reference design. Again this comes with a pretty spartan bundle, but if all you want is a card and the extra software is of no use then its probably as good as anything. The Gainward and leadtek cards are very good, the leadtek having excellent cooling, a very good software bundle and full VIVO functionality with the latest versions of their Ti4600 and 4400, and the Gainward features a nice red PCB, decent bundle, and on some versions video editing function with a firewire card and supplied software. The Albatron Ti4600 card seems pretty good actually, Albatron are certainly making waves in the industry. Don't be put off by the name, for the company is run by a man who used to be very high up with gigabyte, so hes no n00b to the industry! The choice is uo to you though, look at reviews and see what comes bundled with each card, whether the cost of the Leadtek and Gainwards are justified, and then make your decision. I did the same and went for the Leadtek (3 weeks ago) but now I'd probably go for the Albatron...
Thanks for that reply dude and yes I think I am going for the Albetron, or so I thought until I read about that new Asus Nah, Albatron it is, I ca't afford to lose a slot in my system as I use all my PCI slots! Thanks again
