this is my first post here, so if this should be in the above forum, please move it.

I love my south african rugby. so much i want to mod my case to represent that.

As some of you from Atomic may remember, I was working on 'Critical Storm', having the case revolving around Tornadoes, Cyclones etc.

I havent been able to get started with it because I have had too many exams. Though i've got a better idea :). You can tell I am ready to mod when you see this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/manifested/P1000612.jpg .

anyway, now I am thinking of shifting my focus a bit. well, in fact a lot. My case looks like this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/manifested/P1000585.jpg
. i intend painting the whole case the same green as the Springboks have (ie. the South African rugby team), as i am a huge supporter of them, this green: http://digicam.co.za/gallery/data/media/75/DSC04518.jpg.

In that section where the cd-roms are and so on, i intend having the yellowy-gold that the collar has. For a side-window, see that springbok logo at the top right of the jersey. i intend having something similar for a side window. something that takes the shape of this: http://library.thinkquest.org/C008243F/images/bok.gif

Where the front intake fans are, i intend cutting a hole, then having some perspex raised by motherboard spacers placed in front of the fans. This piece of perspex will be in the shape of a rugby ball, and i will etch the perspex to make it look like a rugby ball.

One problem i have to find a solution for is how to cover up the progress that i did do on Critical Storm. the top of the case actually looks like this atm: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/manifested/tornado_mod/P1000594.jpg.

has anyone ogt any ideas what i can do there? I was thinking jsut place some perspex by cutting a rectangle out there, though i had another idea, but i dont know how it will look. this idea is to have some mesh (like in lupins case / defyants master blaster) in this rectangle, then have some perspex on top of there, raised by some more motherboard spacers. i am contemplating etching something else onto this raised piece of perspex, though i'm not sure at this stage.

    Comments please.

    thanks

    edit: stupid spelling mistakes

hmmmm, dunno about the big hole in the top but if you are making a bokke themed case you have to have a popout (or other) biltong bowl man! and a flag somewhere... :p

Good to see another SA (it seems, since no Aussie supports SA rugby) modder on Bit-Tech

    Lekker so Bokke!

thanks for the responses so far.

NOMIS and Soulsmith, i was originally from SA (Johannesburg), but moved to Australia 3 years ago.

Gascan1888 - sounds liek a good idea, just i dont have a router, but ill make a plan :D . THe lighting of the flag may be a bit tough, but probably do-able. since the flag looks like this: [IMG] it may be a bit tricky having that many sheets of perspex, because of the many colours.

ive been thinking about this mod, and ive thought of a better idea with it.

if i were to have a rugby ball as the side-window, it'd be a fair bit more themed. and a bigger window :D. though im still thinking what ill put in the front piece of perspex by the intake fans. i dont want to do another rugby ball.

since i may have the side-window being a rugby ball, i was thinking maybe i'll put the springbok logo on the other side of the case, and then maybe put some kind of plastic or something (cant think what it's called) on the inside of the cutout, it may look pretty nice. especially if it is the same gold that the springboks have as their second colour (similar to the wallaby gold)

    that would be hard.

    reasons:

    1. I'm all the way here in Aus
    2. I dont think this mod will be up to mods like Defyants HPRES2. Whilst i may want it to be, it probably wont be. nonetheless, I will try. it'd have to up to HPRES2's standard in order to ge sponsorship.

Thatd be pretty cool though, but i doubt it'll happen. what do they have to gain from my case, except maybe put it up on their homepage?

its an invasion of Aussie land to weaken their supporter's moral, and its a good reminder to all the South Africas living there to go watch the rugga

I think it'd look sweet to do you window up, then cut a hole the shape of a rugby ball and stick a real one half way in the hole, then etch some cracks in the plexi like it was kicked into the plexi!

Mount plexi or metal sheet below it inside the case, then cover the entire thing with bondo and sand it down :D

You should be good to go after that

As the Barmy Army would say.. "You've got Y-Fronts, on your flag! Y-Fronts, on your flag! You've got Y-fronts, on your flag, ooooh, Y-fronts on your flag". My girlfriend is originally from JHB, so I'll be keeping an eye on this one!

Just a small idea - what about rugby boot studs for the feet? Or fan controller knobs?

    Good luck!
