Well... last night at like 12 am.. I decided I should try to change the LED in my mouse from the original red to blue... Big mistake..

So, I get about 15 minutes in it and have my blue LED... the bad thing is; the blue LED hardly has any leads.. Probably about 2mm or so.
Do you know how hard it is to try and solder a LED with short leads onto leads of the stock led? ...Let me tell you... my mouse was set up weird, so weird that after you install the LED, you have to bend the leads for the LED to get set in place for correct usage....
I gave up after about an hour of failed attempts... things such as too much solder, bridged solder, a weak solder... leads that broke after too many bend-attempts...

If you guys want a picture of the disaster... lemme know and I'll take and upload one... PS: Yes, I did buy a new mouse today... this one seems to glide much better and have much better reception (just a cheap MS mouse)

    Mouse killer!

I tried to change the red led to blue on my explorer 3.0 mouse. I did a good job, but it wouln't run on my black desktop, so I changed it back.

    pics would be nice

There really isn't much to see.... but here they are I guess

The board... I didn't do any damage to it ... but it kinda gives you an idea of how the LED had to bend (it is inserted in that clear plastic and then bent perpendicular to the board)

I could get it working again if I really wanted... just need a good LED with good leads... I don't have any though :|

hmm thats not so bad. You could always soder a paperclip on, or small wires.
Try getting a brighter LED from radioshack or the like.

thats not too hard of a bend, my old one had to bend around a badly placed resistor and back down... and i would reccomend never going to radioshack for leds unless you only need one or two, they cost way too much, go to a place like www.lsdiodes.com they are cheap

I'm going to keep it for later just in case I come across another LED.... I know I could get it working again.

Anyways, it was an ugly old logitech mouse... painted to match my keyboard... don't think many people would want it anyways
