Electronics Opto-isolator or not.. ?

    Ok modded me new DVD to blue..

    Its a bit green for blue - reason is the dvd drive only puts out 1.5V and the 4.1V blue don't wanna know :(

    So I've whacked a green in it for now. I was going to use an opto-isolator to have a bank of similar blue LEDs across the front..

    ANy way to do it without an opto-isolator?

    Not really. Could use a transistor, but then the DVD drive is expecting something back into the ground line. Why not just use an optocouple?
