My Nokia 7650 just died a watery death so am looking at getting a new phone. Was wondering if anyone had tried an Orange SPV e100 and whether they were any good.

I was also looking for at the Sagem myX-6 since that one is free and had a built in camera.

    Anyone got one of these?

I know a few peoplw who have one, I've also watched a few video clips on it, there nice but.... very heavy and a little bulky but for what it is very good, I would say its a lot beter than a '3' phone as you can do a lot more with it, best thing about them is that you cab put extra media cards in them so you could most likly get a nice DivX film resized and watched on a 64mb card.

Well, I have the origional SPV, not the e100. The operating system has a few quirks that you have to get used to after having a nokia.

I only really bought the phone for MSN, everything else was just a bonus.

If the e100 is smaller than the origional I might get one as an upgrade. The old and the new version both use the same version of the Windows CE cut down operating system.

I would go to a shop and have a play with one first before you commit yourself.

It tends to need rebooting every couple of days

Usually only runs Doom after a reboot, otherwise it just crashes :grr:

I've got one (well the ordinary SPV actually but they're very similar), mine was only £30 as my yearly upgrade from Orange  .

I'm quite happy with it, most of the features actually do work and are useful, the only thing that isn't really is the video function in WMP, it's useless. I've tried many times to stream videos from the internet but GPRS is just too slow here. Connected to my PC I get 2k/s max and even that is rather choppy.

I'm not sure if it's a fault but the battery life on mine has gone from good to awful in a matter of weeks. It manages to just about last 24 hours with a few short calls inbetween and the rest of the time on standby.

The screen is easy to read and well lit but has a habit of lighting up for no reason if it's sitting on your desk, very annoying at night.

The camera is rather good considering, as is the MP3 player when listening through the headset. Having .wav files as ringtones is a nice touch but they're too quite, if the phone is in it's leather pound in my pocket, I can't hear it ring!

If you're a patient person you'll love the phone - if you're not and you're used to a Nokia, you'll be sending it straight back.

PS. The size and weight are perfect for me. It's certainly not "big" and fits in your hand nicely.

The mp3 playing is the most useful feature, saves carrying a phone and a mp3 player around :)

Well my m8 bought an SPV as soon as they were out (he got charged £100, they were half price a few weeks later :eeek: ), and I have to say, it is a cool phone. the OS does run a little slow, but apparently there's a software update to fix that. Having MSN on a phone is seriously cool :). It's just a shame that they're only on Orange (as far as I remember :( ), otherwise I'd seriously consider getting one. I think though, I'm going to have a damn good look at buying a 3 phone, if the coverage is OK.
