So I decided to revisit the old girl and I'm enjoying it very much Its amazing how it used to be so difficult to get through when I first played it, and how all the gfx settings are now maxed on it (My old pc was rubbish when it first came out) My only problem is the auto aim feature, If I turn it off the crosshair is off be like 2 cm, and with it on I can't use the assult rifle cos it aims all over the place ... anywho I'm coping Anyone else revisiting old gaming friends?
Got to love the original Half life... I've replayed Half life, Command and Conquer Generals and the Thief series recently, all with graphics maxed out, compared to having to run it at 800-600 when they first came out!!
I do my modern gaming at work. At home, I recycle my entertainments constantly. Half-Life, Planescape, Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Deus Ex, Thief, SiN, I just go round and round.
The only problem i find with the old games is they don't support wide-screen so they look (even more) terrible at my native res. After a little while they hurt my eyes, actually hurt as opposed to figuratively.
I'm holding off on going back to HL for the Black Mesa Source modification project to be completed. It's gonna rule.
I was thinking about doing that ... then I thought I'd do both Plus I'm impatient and afaik there's no release info for it yet?
You probably already know of this, but the widescreen gaming forum is a good place for techniques to get games running in widescreen resolutions, and then alter the FOV to match it.
Forgot all about that mod. Any hints on when its due for release? Stuck behind works firewall atm. Would be one marathon session to play all the Halflife episodes back to back. Lord of the rings eat your heart out.
Yep, I agree that Black Mesa Source should be awsome, I've been following it for the last couple of years hoping to see to hint of when it will be finished. I just hope it doesn't drag on like another certain FPS that we've been waiting (yipes, 10Yrs!!) for - yeah I'm looking at you DNF!!
Yeah, it is pretty rowdy. I occasionally get guilty, or I see Tim watching me and find myself stopping and explaining that "I am really working, honest", to which he sometimes looks baffled.
