OS X Lion Some very good looking features, the best of OSX and iOS rolled into one. Airdrop is one of the stand out features for me. What are your thoughts guys?
a lot of the features just look like gimmicks and have been drafted straight from ipad macstore = good idea really launchpad = gimmicky - the dock does the same thing (easy access to "apps") full screen apps = OMFG i can full screen my programs AMAZING mission control = pretty sure they pinched this from andriod and windows aero tabbing ? do like you can set it up as a server as standard though
-Full-screen apps, aka F11/Alt-Enter key -Auto save / Versions, aka a prettier version of SVN repository. -Resume, aka sleep mode (actually, i was a bit wrong here, but still, bad idea since closing an app means you want to start fresh. i hate how iphone apps assume you want to resume from where you left a month ago..... give me control between quit and close damn it) -Conversation flow, aka google threads -Air drop, aka shared folders for dummies. (create an empty shared folder -> everyone write access, job done) and plus the gimmick ipad-like features as said ^^^. have i missed anything?
Microsoft Windows 7/Vista VOLUME SHADOW COPY!!! Oh wait, I mean "Versions". Resume, is like the only somewhat interesting feature. But as the star state: "Available with apps that have been developed to work with Lion." So, I will be a big mess until you get every software you have, on its latest version.
Resume and the improved touch gestures look rather nice, but everything else, as already said, is a bit of a let down. Admittedly, Airdrop might make it a little easier for noobs to get to grips with shared folders. Any idea how this might improve things between Mac and Windows users? One of my housemates uses a Mac and we've never been able to share files between him and our Windows PCs. Full-screen apps = Maximise button that Windows has had for 20 years and should allow Mac users to focus visually on one task from now on Mission Control = what was wrong with the old way of doing it? "Expose" was it called? Hopefully there'll be an option to switch off Autosave. . . that could be a ball-ache when you want to save incrementally.
Personally: Fullscreen is one of the few things I miss in OSX at present. new gestures look good, so long as they don't take away my "to desktop" Autosave + TimeCapsule could be complete frikken win, mind. All in all - evolution, rather than revolution. I want.
aye I was thinking airdrop-ng xD great a bunch of apple knuckleheads running around denying wireless access
