    Hi all,

I'm having problems with Outlook 2003/2007. On both neither of them will actively auto archive emails even tho its been set up in general and on the folders. The only way its been able to work is if its manually done by someone.. is this a normal thing with outlook?? its set to auto archive without prompting the user and to go every 14 days but there is still email from a year ago.

I did try on another machine with 07 to set archiving to prompt before it runs and set it to one day and it appeared when i clicked ok

both machines are running XP and ive got one with 2003 and the other is 2007

Going back a while this but...

My experience suggests when this sort of thing happens make sure both the archive file and the PST file you normally use have deleted items, spam and anything not needed emptied. Then compact the files and finally use ScanPST to search for and fix any errors.

If that doesn't work, create a new Outlook profile.

Be sure to re-add any extra mailboxes, re-point any signatures and existing PSTs, plus any custom view settings/favourites.

76.391% of the time that resolves issues with auto-archiving.

    Right. Here's the trick.

Archiving looks at the accessed date, not the received date.
If you keep opening an email from years ago, it won't ever be archived

Does that count for threads that are eight years old as well? ;)
