We 've set up Outlook 2003 for a user to have 3 profiles. The only difference between them is the outgoing mail server, for traveling purposes (each country he's at he has to use a different outgoing server. All profiles use the same .pst file. The email accounts in all profiles must have the "Leave a copy of messages on the server" option enabled. The problem is, when he receives emails at one profile, he receives the same on the other two. I thought that when using the same .pst it shouldn't do that. Is there another way or option to fix this. Thanks a lot!

You are getting the same email in all the accounts since they all share the same .pst file.

Actually what I was saying is that he is getting double mails. That is, when he is in one profile he gets an email, and when he enters another profile he gets the same email again!

Oh I see, sorry about that, misunderstood your first post.

Just speculating here 'cause I don't know why it is happening....

Doesn't Outlook remember which e-mail has been read and which e-mail hasn't for each profile, therefore pulling down the e-mails from the server again when the user logs in with a different profile? (if you get what I mean)

Have you tried changing the setting to not leave a copy on the server, to see if that helps?

That's probably what's happening! I was just thinking if there was a way to tell Outlook not to remember which emails it downloaded from the other profile, or something like that. I can't really remove that "leave messages on server" option cause other people have to get those emails from that account. I am using different profiles, just to have different outgoing servers (e.g when he's at the UK, he uses the UK profile with the right server and so on.) If there's another way to do this then please enlighten me. Thanks!

I had the same problem receiving duplicate emails as I had different emails addresses set up under the one account. The way I got around it was to go to Tools/Options/Mail Setup/Send.Receive. Double click on all accounts. In here it will show you all your 3 email accounts. On the right hand side you will see box which is ticked saying "receive mail items". Keep the 1st account ticked but untick this option in the other 2 accounts.

Thats it! Thanks a lot, you saved me! I 'll drop the profiles and create the accounts in one profile, and have only one being able to receive and all to be able to send from. I knew about the send/receive settings but I never thought of doing it like that! Thanks again!
