Is there any way to get outlook express to redirect (rather than forward) emails (keeping the headers and reply intact) rather than just using the forward rule. I know its not possible in the main program but are there any plugins or anything (something that scans the inbox and redirects maybe)
This is because we have one ebay account for the whole family and i'd rather have my own questions to seler from my auctions come straight to my address so i can reply to them. Changing from outlook express to eudora is not really an option because its my parents comp and they are just barely computer literate.

Maybe something that sits in front of outlook as a mail server?

    Thanks

I'm not sure I understand, but can't you just set up a new account and have that account recieve just your mail?

you would of course have to have your own email addy, and you would have to know what your pop3 mail server is...it's not too difficult.

    no

We use one account for the whole family on ebay. All the questions for sellers thus go to one email addy. At the moment these all goto the main server comp. But all 4 of us have auctions. So all questions from buyers goto this address.

I want something that reads the subject line. Recognises the auction number eg 2343244234 and redirects this email to my comp. But i need it to keep the original senders reply address so i can't just use the forward rule.

    Make sense?

I dunno how to do that in outlook, it would seem that if it is only going to one addy, then it would be quite difficult to send it to a different computer.

I'm guessing that you use that email address in your inbox?

as far as I know, mail can only go to one address, it doesn't matter how many computers you have, it's all going to have the same addy, I dunno how it would get the message to go to just your folder if everyone else has the same folder.

As far as I know, this would have to be done before the email gets to the pop server. You would need a relay server to act as an intermediary to redirect email accordingly.

sender ---> relay server ---> pop server

If you can't do it that way, your best bet would be to setup seperate folders within OE and use your mail tools to scan the subject line for each individual item and place the mail into a specified folder when a hit is made.

its a simple redirect, most email progs can do it. Just not OE (although the mac version does) :sigh:

    The logic would be.

    Code:
    If subject line contains "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"

    Redirect to [email]jonny-B@getlostyouspammers.com[/email]

I wonder how on earth Eudora does it. :waah:

I would use it but, i don't think the parents could cope with a new email prog :(

even if you could do that, you have to append the list every time there is a new auction, it seems it would be much easier to just copy the mail out of the inbox, put it in a shared folder and then drag it into your inbox on your computer.

wastes a lot less time than changing your redirect settings every time you get a new auction number.

I'm telling you, you have to go into it and tell it every single time you get a new message that it has to be forwarded, it would take much less time to just drag and drop the mail into your box.

    No you don't.

Ive been using this system for years. Just with forwarding instead of redirect. All i do is set up a rule that forwards every email with a particular auction number in to me. As i said i don't have many auctions, and it takes 5 secs to make a rule (A lot less time than posting an auction!)
