Ok so I am using an Asus P5GD2 Deluxe motherboard with 1024MB PC5400 from Corsair and an unlocked 3.6GHz LGA775 P4. The results at stocks speeds are very nice and the Corsair memory is great. The only thing I don't understand is some of my benchmarking results are worse at MHz than 533 Below are some screen shots which will explain. if anyone can tell me if this is just how it is or if I am doing something wrong I would love to hear it. Also I need to get confirmation that the DDR 2 is running at MHz in the 2nd memory screen shot. I also have the RAM running at 4-4-4-12 which is what it is rated for. For the dbpoweramp test, you need a much bigger sample. On a single small file conversion the times will vary greatly from run to run, convert 10-20 mp3's in a single run for more accuracy. As for the graphics bench ??????? Something doesnt make sense, your system is faster therefore your score should be higher.
What temperature is your cpu at at load and idle, stock and OC? Touch the nb cooler? IF you cant keep your finger on it comfortably, its too hot
It may be that there is some thermal throttling like people are suggesting I will check out temps when I get home.
was recently playing with a rig of a mate of mine (hes computer illeterate) he was complaining that it was running games really badly, upon inspection it was running at 1100MHz (it was a 2500+ in question) turns out the guy that set it up for him decided that it would be fine running at 2.2GHz all the time, because it didnt crash, well it just throttled to 50% because it was too damn hot
It was being throttled because of the temperature. I disabled the setting in the BIOS and all is fine now and scores are up. These new P4s get hotter than AMD...
you may want to reckeck that the heatsink is on properly and that you have the right amount of paste on it, as the idea of the LGA package was that it reduced the heat output and from what i have seen they are rather cool running processors
