Hi. Just overclocked my Core i5 2500K to 4.5GHz.:baby: Ran a stress test for five minutes using Prime95 and monitored temps. using CoreTemp.
Temperatures peaked @ 68°C, but for the most part hovered around 66°C.:worried:
Since it's only the Turbo Boost that's overclocked, are these temps. acceptable? I play mostly online games; Bad Company 2 being the most demanding, and that didn't exceed 58°C.:D

Not a direct answer to your question, but what voltage and cooler are you using as these make the temps quite subjective.

Not sure about voltages (don't have a SB CPU), but the temps seem acceptable.

I have the same cpu/mobo/cooler combination as you, and am getting very similar temps. Mine is at 1.34V Vcore, can't get it stable as low as 1.3V so you are lucky there.

My understanding is that these temps are acceptable, I was looking to keep my temps under 70C with my overclock.

I agree with StockBroker, we need to know what voltage its at. The temps arent terrible...what cooler you got though, cause if it was me I'd say thats pretty high for standard use. And a stress test for 5mins isnt good enough, that ignores the build up of temp in the case, which will affect the core temp as well, even if under stress its at almost 70, overtime that could creep up.

Nothing wrong with those temps, If that was 20 degrees higher you'd have cause for alarm.

It'll take it, but I wouldn't be happy with it running that high.

I'm running my i7-2600k @ 4.7ghz. Temps momentarily peak at 70, usually 68 when encoding or rendering. Using dark rock advanced.

i5 2500k @ 4.7Ghz w/ 1.35V using a Gelid Tranquillo and I usually sit around 65 degrees when folding. May have to push it a little more or get a wet cooler :p

Ahhh, That's the clincher. I thought you had a decent cooler fitted. So that about right then temps wise.

Just be careful, Silverstone TJ07 should vent well but might be worth doing some longer stress tests to see if the temp starts creeping up, dont know about you but when im up to something intensive on my rig, it rarely only takes 5mins!

Got the Gelid Tranquillo, but it's the stock LianLi fans. They don't move much air..
