You don't make enough money to run a Maranello by messing about answering phones all day you know.

errr b-grade stock is that, sold without warranty/guarantee.

and as for them testing cards that come in new. Never gonna happen. This is because if they opened the box and tested it, it would become second hand and b-stock so they couldnt sell it to you as new.

b-stock is usually stuff returned in the 7 day cooling off period. this is why its sold without warranty. the time needed to test all of the b-grade stock that comes in too would be horrific hence again the no warranty thing.

but... if they have nothing noted about b-grade stock under there terms and conditions and they cant proove that the card didnt damage your system (yes its upto them to proove it not you by law) then you could probably get a good deal out of this.

As for the phone/email thing its the main problem of fast growing companies. I used to work for one that grew from £1million a year to £50million in the space of 12 months. We gave up on emails and only answered the phones but these where under staffed as we couldnt get staff quick enough to fill positions. So just ring and ring till they answer or send a letter via recorded delivery so it becomes a legal document and lay down exactly what has happend and what you expect them to do at a minimum. If you get no reply then get a lawyer to draft it or someone who can write like one :D

What about items that arrive B-grade and are supposed to be brand new. Ahhh overclockers, how you never ceased to surprise me with your pathetic customer service...

To be honest i find that the Customer Services of every online retailer i've had the misfortune of using is shameful.
Microdirect - You ask a question and get an automated reply based on keywords in your e-mails.
Overclockers - Crap all round, don't answer phones, emails or letters.
Ebuyer - Ok once you get hold of them: slow replies though.

They need to shape their acts up, considering the amounts of money they make and the sheer volume of customers - we all have off days, but come on, this happens too often to be just co-incidence.

I've only RMA'd one thing to OCUK - I got a replacement hard drive through my door 3 days after sending my old one off, after sending them an enormous in-depth point-by-point technical email of what I'd tried and what the symptoms/diagnosis were. They do seem to have an awful reputation though ;)

had a simialr experience with them with some ram, took me 3 days to gett hrough on their phones, and when Idid get through they wanted me to send both strips of ram back. I told them if I did that I couldn't use my PC and they were like, hang on I'll ask my supervisor.

got my stick back in the end, took them 10 days to test it and send me a replacement, never again.

Thanks so much for all the advice. They emailed me today with a full refund. Just gotta send the magic card back. IF they have done anymore damage to my system i'm taking them to trading standards, its sad that they can't be bothered with decent customer services.

now i just have to find another graphics card within my price range :(
    and test my system.

I'm never using OCUK again, they are so lame its stupid.

On a lighter note i told my local mayor he had some nice bling........oh well gotta go post this card back and get a fancy dress outfit for tonight. woooo

if you have a serious problem, write a letter, put a deadline in the letter, send it recorded. That really gets their attention!

(titled Complaints Department, or to the company secrerty).

It worked for me with ebuyer!

ocuk amazed me, i was buying a gfx card a few years back, and i rang up to find out which revision was on the site, the person who awnsered talked himself right out of a juicy sale.

wehavethings.com i like them right now, try ringing em up.... whats this... YOU GET THROUGH amazing. Hopefully they will stay that way, there prices are very good right now (got a 300GB seagate for storage, 10p less than ebuyer, £2 less than scan and its retail pack!).

dont accept a refund until you are sure nothing else is damaged. they refund you the money then the contract of sale between you and them is over.

aw bugger. now you tell me...its already been sent off. If there is more damage then i will make sure i get it replaced. I can't test anything until i get a new card. HOPEFULLY nothing is broken, if it is, small claims court here i come and my receipts come out...wooo...

    methinks i'm borked it...

Well ive never had a problem with overclockers.co.uk, although i live a few miles away and always go in to buy stuff, saving the hassel of postage. they are always really busy and its only a little shop....

Isn't the whole point of buying B Grade stock that they are selling it without warrenties at a reduced cost? There was obviously somethign wrong with the card and although such a searious fault is unfortunate, thats always a risk you are going to take with B grade stuff...

your probably one of the lucky ones...

but ive usally shopped with ebuyer.. looked at overclockers for a couple of things but found them else where cheaper... but i can only say ive ever had to replace one thing for my computer and it was a fast replacment with little problems.. :D

Most places, when referring to B grade stock normally say whats wrong with it. You know like

"This card may explode into a fireball of doom and destruction"

overclockers didn't say anything so i assumed it was a simple returned product.

I know there is a risk in buying the card B grade. But i don't expect it to be a potential death sentence. I mean if i wasn't there it could of done much worse damage!! its just irresponsible of them to sell something that will do that. Especially if its been returned for the exact reason its goingback now.
