You pay more for postage with Scan. And in my eyes for the service they provide - its worth every single penny! Sorry to hear about this, they've obviously had the tax man wrap them in the past for something similar and refuse to deal with it all together. Still, the guy emailing you was a bit of a smartarse. But I've dealt with OCUK before and they were pretty shocking. Good luck to you!
Does it actually say about this lack of returns policy for B2B customers? If not, then they cannot state it is in their policy, as their policy needs to be fully available to any customer. If it does, then generally you are out of luck. You can keep trying to get it exchanged but I don't think they actually have to do anything. I still hate them though.
LOL Ive been to their old store and they couldnt even deal with half a dozen customers without people getting angry at waiting around for half a hour to get a few parts. And the customer support line is actually one person, if he is there at all. Utter utter joke of a company who aren't even cheap, I have no idea why they haven't died off already.
Totally agree with MrBungle. I've had to stand around for over an hour before, when visiting their store. To see that there are a line of customers (in my case about 6-7), and only having one person serving is really very stupid. Especially when you can see into the "sales office" due to the clear glass windows, to see 4-5 people browsing facebook or other totally non-work related websites. Either get an extra pair of hands on the counter to serve, or have someone extra in the stockroom, so that orders can be retrieved faster. Personally, living in Nottingham, i prefer to wait until a weekend or similar, and cough up the £30-40 petrol money and personal time, and drive over there. At least that way, i can check all the products before I leave, and sort it out on the spot.
Thats exactly what I did, I live in Loughborough so I nipped across. This was for the second time I bought something from them though.
This may be stating the obvious, but why don't you just save yourself the £40 and however many hours of your spare time and buy from somewhere else?
I usually do, but there's occasions on a Friday evening/Saturday when "the bug" hits me, and i'll want to buy a certain piece of hardware. And im yet to find someone nearer to home that offers the higher end products and a nice price. If anyone wants to point me towards a nicer/competitive supplier in or around Nottingham that sells high end _BRAND NAME_ stuff, please, let me know. I already have trade accounts with a few local places for low-end (pcchips, ecs, sparkle etc..) before anyone mentions the likes of them.
All your input can be summed up by your above sentence - you are brain dead sir.. Wondered if you were an ocuk mole until the above gem.. Been around forever & dealt with everyone pc parts wise & 3 companies top the don't deal with list , microdirect + eclipse for dodgyness & Overclockers for a deep nastiness
I think I might be the only person on the Bit-tech forums who's never had a problem with OCuk, if an order has gone wrong they quickly sort it and have a couple of times even refunded me my postage, most recently for the GTX 275 I ordered off them... Scan on the other hand have fluffed my order every time and been really bad on the phone. Basically I've had the OP's problem with them rather than OCuk
I've only ever bought one item of value from OcUK, which was a GTX 260 in Feb... I requested an RMA in may, and they accepted and gave me a number which was valid for 14 days. I was due in Stoke on business, so I popped it into their shop - except that the shop was closed down... I did a check on the web and found their new address - about 5 miles away. So I drove there...but couldnt find the new place. So I rang them up and was patronisingly told that I needed to Something Way and they were unit 4... I knew I was on top of them, but just couldnt see the shop. In the end, the guy reluctantly agreed to look out the window and tell me what his neighbours were... As soon as he mentioned one, I knew where I needed to be (only about 50 yds away!). I found the store, but it was a minor miracle not only was Whatever-it-was Way no sign-posted but neither was OcUK itself. The front of their offices were completely blank...just a grey facade. Not only did they move office (during my 14 day RMA period) but they didn't have a sign up... How the hell are you supposed to find them?? Prior to that I was given a short ban from the forums for 'Poorly disguised swearing'. I'd used Q F T (because QFT was ***ed out). I tried to explain (with web references) that QFT stood for Quoted For Truth, but they weren't having it - one assumed they erroneously presumed it was Quite-Effing-True... That said, I did get my replacement card... ...but overall, I don't really trust them. So I've abandoned the forums, and will not be buying any more. Ebuyer and Scan are still great and Novatech is very competitive these days...
OCuk forums are heavily moderated and not a bad word about them or bad product they sell can be talked about this results in your comment been removed and you banned.
im suprised people are ok with ebuyer. My firned is still waiting for his motherboard that was RMA 6 months ago
I'm still waiting for a refund on fees for some cards they tested and reckoned were fine (PNY replaced them as they weren't). Ordered a 780i on Wednesday, got an email on Thursday saying it'd be shipped then as I missed the cutoff then got told today it's not actually in stock. Bunch of losers.
I've order from them as well without any problems but then again my orders have never gone wrong. However their forums are joke with the admins/mods running it with an iron fist and banning peeps for the slightest infractions.
And there you have the reason for the success of overclockers.co.uk, the complete absense of useful pc retail stores.
