I have just installed the new motherboard and got it to run dual channel on the DDR. What I cannot quite work out is how to overclock this puppy. I have the latest bios instaled and i can change the the multiplier settings in the bios. Correct me if i am wrong but I can set the Memory speed seperate to the CPU FSB, but i am not sure how to do this. Can anybody give me some pointers and places to start at? Current spec is in my sig, just have to change the M/B.
As you increase the CPU FSB; the memory's FSB goes with it, the higher the CPU FSB goes, the lower the ratio of "PC" numbers it goes; eg PC2100 or PC2700 or PC3200 being 266Mhz, 333Mhz and 400 Mhz respectively... 400Mhz DDR will overclock better than 266 of the same brand because it can step DOWN up to 2 steps to a 266 Mhz-ish level when it gets too high... Dunno if it's very well explained; tis a little complex. Basically just up the CPU FSB and you'll get a decent clock with a reasonable chip and memory
