Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me.

I've been trying to overclock a Intel core 2 duo E6750 @ 2.66ghz up to 3ghz, but so far attempts at even overclocking it to 2.67ghz causes the 8x multiplier to roll back onto 6x where it will stay even under full load reducing system performance. To try and stop this I need to turn off speedstep technology but on my foxconn motherboard BIOS options I can't find this as a option so I can't turn it off, will it be hidden under another option possibly?

    My system specs are...
    • Intel core 2 duo E6750 2.66ghz
    • 4GB of DDR2 ram
    • 2x maxtor 500GB hard disks
    • XFX radeon 5830
    • Foxconn ELA Intel P45 (Socket 775) DDR2 Motherboard [ELA]
    • Windows 7 64 bit

    Thanks for all help.

Not usually, its just called SpeedStep. Can you give me the full model number so I can look up the manual.

The multiplier should go back up to 8x with an intensive work load (ie download OCCT and run Linpack).

Download RealTemp and check your temps. When the C2D/C2Qs,etc start overheating, it will automatically go to 6x to reduce temps.

This should be it: ' C1E Function
C1E represents Enhanced HALT State. It is a feature which Intel CPU uses to reduce power
consumption when in halt state. C1E drops the CPU's multiplier and voltage to lower levels
when a HLT (halt) command is issued. This item is used to enable/disable the C1E support.' From the manual. The other thing it could be is EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® technology). Just try disabling both under the CPU Configuration menu in Gladiator BIOS.

    Hope this helps :)

turned em both to disabled and increased the speed from 333 to 350 e.g. 2.80GHZ, windows seems to have relised this (under system info) but cpu-z only reports 2.09GHZ as the mutiplier has rolled back to 6x.
Linpack reports a -21% underclock becuase of this.

Also i dont know if it is a me thing or windows 7 thing but windows applications will always show my cpu(E6750 )at 2.66 ghz

CPU-z uses live reporting. But if they're disable it shouldn't be dropping the multiplier at all.

20 degrees seems a bit optimistic with only an ACFP7.

What are you measuring the temp with??
