Hi all, CCC is only letting me OC my 4870x2 to 800/1000 but I've seen higher overclocks on the net, and I reckon it's got more in it so does anyone know any tricks to get a higher clock? Thanks
CCC will only allow you to overclock to what they see as "safe clocks", a program such as rivatuner will allow you to OC further, however could affect your system
Yeh I had a go with RivaTuner 2.24 downloaded from guru3d.com, but i get the following message when I launch it: "Cannot load Riva Tuner64.sys driver. Pleas ensure that this file exists in RivaTuner's folder and your user account has administrative rights" followed by "Driver signing enforcement must be disabled in order to start RivaTuner under Vista x64. Do you want to disable driver signing enforcement right nor and reboot the system to apply changes?" If I click yes, is reboots then displays the same messages. Have downloaded the promising-looning RivaTuner vista 64 driver (RivaTuner203Drv.rtu) from techpowerup.com, have put it into rivatuner folder but doesn't seem to help. Any ideas my learne'd brethren?
Do a deep system search of "RivaTuner" and find out if it has made a folder in the Windows folder or something. That could explain why the file you placed in the folder isn't being read (i.e., it might need to be in a different folder). Try copying the .sys file into "C:\Windows\System32\drivers"
Make sure you got a modern version of RivaTuner. There's been a patch in Vista for years now that disallows disabling the driver signing and RivaTuner should be aware of that. To circumvent driver signing you have to tap F8 at boot and choose "disable driver signing". Annoying as you have to do it every boot. Then there's a thing called ReadyDriver Plus which I use.
this is gonna sound weird, but it worked for me on my old PC when Riva Tuner wouldn't work. Get a memory stick that you can put Riva tuner set up onto, once it's downloaded onto the stick, remove it from your comp, restart comp. Now plug memory stick back in and load the setup, hopefully so far you haven't had any error messages. Install Riva Tuner program onto the memory stick (you can transfer later). Hopefully this will let you install, thats what I had to do to get it to work on vista, but I did get a different error message to you so it may not work, worth a try though. If not you could try ATi Tool to overclock the card, but I don't know if it will be any better than CCC?
Wierd, downloaded it from Softpedia instead of Guru3D, both are version 2.24, and now it works! Muchos gratsias amigos
