This is the newest Rad from Aqua Cmputer ... I think it's sick ... this is too much ... absolute overkill ... Those are 120mm fans ... 15 x 120 mm fans !? WTF !? SICK !!! Cheers [DE]FreD_S
That one's kind of funny. Even before you consider the cost of 15 12cm Papst fans, You'd surely be looking at this as a passive cooking solution and I thought the Mora rads wer better regarded for such projects. Furthermore, no doubt they should ideally be in parallel and as its stands has a fair flow resistance.................
Get the price ... it costs 199 € which is 139 Pounds or $ 234 ... the first one was sold at an auction equippd with 15 fans ... the sad person that boght it payed 430 € for it Sorry, but that is so sick ... and I mean it. For 100 € more he would have gotten a Prometia ... oh well, I know what I'm not gonna buy ... Cheers [DE]FreD_S
It probably doesn't even perform that well. After all you can only get the water back to room temp at the lowest.
dex is correct, even though it can probaly handle 15000 gigawatts of heat, it will never see that much unless u have ure cpu hooked up to the 12 volts or something.
I agree, and unless the flow is divided into multiple channels, that thing is going to utterly kiil flow from any pump. The resulting drop in efficiency would probably raise your cpu temp above the water more than this rad would lower your water temp relative to the air when compared with say a high flow loop through a large thermochill or something. Utter overkill 8-ball
I thought I mentioned it once before but (as I was told) the first one was actually originally commissioned to cool a 42 CPU cluster. Supercomputers tend to put out a little more heat than your average desktop... 8-ball, know a good block that wouldn't impair flow when you connect 42 of them together then? (j/k) Horses for courses and all that. AFAIK, the thing was, when they mentioned in their forums about what they were doing, apparently they got a lot more interest than they expected, so it went into (albeit limited) production. Same goes for their Sterling Silver waterblocks, overkill for most but nice to know you can get them, all the same.
Mmmm, Cray.... /drool I thought I was the first to colour code the hot and cold sides of my plumbing loop until I realised Steve Chen did it first with the Cray Y-MP in 1988.
Been looking at that rad for a while now. It was originally designed for some guy cooling 42 CPUs or so with one system. True... does seem pretty (extremely) overkill. Imagine all of those Papsts running @ 12V... pretty loud eh? If I would get this rad, I would run it completely passively. Besides that the fans would cost around 199€ as well so you could be looking at 400€ , so the price the guy paid at the auction was pretty resonable.
Hey Der Me!$ter - I got those rad brackets in eventually. I can't believe you didn't just use this -> By the way, I also managed to find what I think may be similar to your Zern Rad (maybe a little larger though). It's the bottom right one at 190 x 160 x 70mm (actual core size). It's a full triple pass Cu/Brass affair. Is that similar, out of interest? /me goes off to play... [Edit] BTW, the guy I got these off has a bunch of test equipment which he may be willing to part with too... muahahaha!
Theres no such thing as too much when it comes to modding or watercooling....If it wont fit in one case.....built two cases....If its running at room temp.....TEC chill it....If its -32c.....rock on!
Everything is fine now! Got the 10mm angle pieces and they fit perfectly. Yes, that rad does look pretty similar to the Zern. Thanks for your help!
