P4 help.. pc not booting!

    Hi all

    I just built my mate's new P4 pc:

    - P4 2.5GHz 400FSB w/ Stock HSF
    - Abit IS7-E Rev1.02
    - 256MB x 2 TwinMOS PC3700
    - Hitachi S-ATA HDD
    - Sapphire 9550
    - Antec Sonata w/ 380w PSU
    - Pioneer DVD writer

    the computer doesn't boot, no beeps
    checked all fans are working ok, all cables ok

    tried swapping the RAM with my Mushkin PC3500 Lvl2 but nothing
    cleared CMOS, removed batt etc also nothing

    what could be the problem?

    pls help my mate is not talking to me now :wallbash:

    LOL @ ur friend

    You got all the plugs in right? The power and reset switch in right the right pin positions?

    Try taking it out of the case and booting it bare.

    I forget to do this sometimes but P4 motherboards have a 4-Pin power connector, make sure it's plugged in as well. The plug from the PSU will have some yellow and black wires.

    That connector is used to power the processor if it's not plugged in the computer won't boot. Also check the heatsink fan is plugged in as well.

    pls ignore.. problem solved now.. it appears that my mate didn't put the cpu properly :wallbash: :duh:
    the cpu stuck on the heatsink when he took the hsf out :hehe:
