could i get a brakedown of the tools you used to create this. I would love to have a go at building my own case, but the only things i got so far are a dremel and a crap jigsaw. must remember to keep lookign at ebay to try and get the long flexible extension for my goddam dremel. back on topic, sexy lookign case
Thats it I want a aluminium Case..... Now I know how to put one together now. Anybody know where i can get that edging from in the UK? Somebody say yes....... That is soooooooo sweeeeeeeet.....
ALUMINUM i THINK YOU CAN TAKE THE FRAME AND ANY OTHER PIECES AND HAVE THEM ANODIZED ANY COLOR LIKE THE MAG FLASHLIGHTS IF THAT IS SOMETHING YOU LIKE IT WOULD ADD ONE MORE PERSONILIZED TOUCH TO YOUR PROJECT ITS LOOKING GREAT KEEP THEM PICTURES COMMING
Superb execution & workmanship, this will end up a real masterpiece. IMHO I prefer the look of flush fasteners and with 1/4 in. panels you have plenty of thickness to countersink for flat head cap screws or at least button head. I think you may be interested in the fasteners these guys have, anodised alu machine screws, red, blue, would go great with your color scheme, whatever style you choose. http://www.fastener-express.com/subcat.asp?0=218
Well i started by looking at 18 wheelers and how they are built. They sorta have rivets at corners of each panel, so thats the "look" i was going for. On big trucks they use a round head screw and I did try those but it didnt look right to me. So I decided on socket head screws. But your right though, if it were any other project then countersunk screws would have been great! You know I can actually sit on the case and it holds up no problem. Even laid down on the top to put all my weight on it. Sturdy like a tank Speaking of which, does everyone see how big the case is? I've had some emails asking me if those 2 holes on the front were 80mm. They are actually 120mm so i took a quick shot with a cd in front to compare to: Its big...really big So heres a quickie update. Parts have started to come in. I wanted to go 12v again on the pump so the big poppa is the johnson 12v pump. I will be running 2 pumps in this setup, and no im not crazy More on these a little later: So shopping around for cool grills for the front. Had to look good, and had to be "neutral". What i mean is that it couldn't be a biohazard, etc.. because then it wouldn't look like the front of a truck (If you haven't noticed by now, the 2-120mm holes on the front are the "headlights") So I picked up these bad boys: 6 in total(4 x 120 and 2 x 80) for all the outside fan holes. Next up are 120mm to 80mm fan adaptors, again more about this a little later : A lastly this is something I'm pretty excited about. For anyone using a US watercooling kit you dont have to put up with those ugly plastic clamps or wormdrives. I found these clamps that fit over a hose/barb...and with a few twists it secures the hose. They are made from billet alu and look great: Not covers...they are clamps...nice stay tuned......
more more more! you gonna seal up that open part in the middel of the front ? case looks so sweet! how much do you want for it ?
Love the hose clamps ScopEdog. Any chance of showing one fitted in someway. Not sure if it's just me, but I'd like to see how this works. Love everthing about the project, including the twin pump system
where can these hose clamps be obtained from and whats the cost. like the way this case is progressing a lot.
Phat Ass: the clamps can be obtained from Pi-Thon Inc.. Cheap they ain't. Gorgeous they are. Scopedog discovered them, and told me about them. As a result two chrome polished ones are winging their way to me (project Metaversa).
Oops...sorry i forgot about ya bro! Here ya go: The top of the clamp "screws" in and starts to tighten onto the hose internally. It comes with a special wrench to get it tight. Hope that makes sense, in any event it works great and the hold is very very strong.
looking nice. Those are some sweet clamps you got there... Still can't wait to see the finished product... Keep us posted......
