Its as above realy. Do you suffer from pain in the lower back when youve been sitting about all day?
Are there any ways to cure it or are we all doomed to suffer untill our spine crumbles?

Me? i get pain in my lower back just above my arse when i sit for too long. I have no idea how to fix it and im not going take medication for it as its just a dull acheing pain.

so first piece of advice for all (from the injured finboz) is to get some abs :D

But what about those ppl who "dont have time" or to put it a better way "cant be arsed" any more suggestions? perhaps a Bit-Tech workout timetable need to be developed

I used to get a terrible pain and lockup in upper part of the back after sitting in the same position for few hours.... now it stopped probably because I go biking at least 2 times a week...

General exercise would proably help and improving your muscle support in that area, abs and lower back muscles.

You can also invest in a lumbar support which just slots onto your office chair reducing back pain alot I should think.

It really helps not to slouch; if you sit up straight and get any real exercise, back pain basically ceases :)

Also, check your sleeping positions, it'll sound strange, but give it a try. :)

My back problem wasnt due to sitting about in chairs all day like i do most of the time now. looking back i think it was due to my large ammounts of diving and the position of the weight belt at the time. It was positioned in such a way as to make me have to do a reverse arch, if you get my drift. Now ive got an intergrated weight system into my BCD so it distributes the weight evanly accross my entire back and not just a strip along the bottom half.
So general concensus is to do a lot of ab and lower back excersises and to sit correctly on the chair.

I had a room mate who suffered from severe back pain from sitting at his PC all day. He went to a chiropractor for a few months and it helped him a lot. I can attest to it helping. I went to one when I was younger. I had a problem with my bones growing faster than the rest of me, as a result, I was really thin, and would get the most mind numbing migranes. After a few months of Chiro, the head aches went away. Of course, results may vary.

And if all else fails, there's always Beer! Nothing spells pain relief like B-E-E-R :thumb:

I also have back problems and I agree that on occasion BEER is a super cure. Not for all though, especially if you are only 14 yrs old.

I get really bad lower back pain when i stand up for a bit without walkin much. I think ive got a messed up spine as i have like a really bad slouch and my neck and lower back kill when i try and stand up straight for more than about 30seconds.

so weve got the differences between sit-down pain and stand-up pain then.
Would it be fair to say that the sit-down pain is related to lower back and stand-up pain to the upper back?

And yes BEER does spell "pain killer" but we cant all be tanked up all the time :D

You'd get better results consulting your doctor than bit-tech.

    He speaks the truth

    --

Get a chair with decent lower back support and avoid slouching. The government should give Aeron chairs to geeks!
