today i was at canadian tire (a hardware store) and bought a can of krylon fusion plastic paint. now, im planning on painting the top of my toshiba protege 3110CT with it. the only problem is, it appears to be just coating of something over metal. the paint is made for plastic, and i thought that was all that was there, but it seems that theres metal under whatevers on top. does anyone know if its plastic on the metal or paint? its only about a mm thick, im afraid it might just be paint. if it is, can i still use the krylon fusion overtop of the paint, or should i sand to the metal. if i do though, will it still stick good and be durable and chip resistant? please help, i think i can still return the paint if i need to. $7 bucks for a can, dont really want to waste that.

actually i made a horrible judgement on the thickness. its only about .1mm thick. im almost sure its paint now. does anyone know if the krylon will stick to paint or the bare metal?

their website says recommended surfaces and metal is one, but does anyone know from experience how well it sticks to metal?

Krylon Fusion sucks big time. It doesnt "chemical bond" to plastic like the comercial says or what ever. And you do need to prime/clearcoat even tho the can says you dont have to. Even then the finnish is so easy destroyed. Even with priming/clearcoating, krylon fusion didnt even last more than 3 days before it started to wear off. Just a word of warning about krylon fusion. Vinal Dye is much better

Eh, I've used Fusion quite a bit. It's okay, like all Krylon paints. In my experience it doesn't need primer and does bond quite well, although not as well as real primer and real paint. My main beef with Krylon paints is the absolute horrible nozzle and constant sputtering and unevenness I get with their cans. The nozzles look the same as the Dupli-Color ez-spray nozzles, so maybe it's in the intake mechanism on the can, but it sucks.

As for your situation, yes, it will stick to paint just fine.

damn, it sounds like this stuff is going to be more trouble than its worth. i might as well try it, i cant return it or anything, so ill see how well it works, and if it sucks ill sand it off and try something else.
