Hello all i have a old case that i decided to start work on, i did some modding and required to take the top coat of paint off, this has now left me with some silver of the metal where would i be able to get the case re-sprayed or how could i do it myself as i want to have i painted so iam left with a nice shine and it is in "royal blue"

    Cheers

Just thought of something else to ask you, if i have cut the case a little bit when i come to spray it, it will look a right mess right so is there a way i can put some filler or something on it then sand it down to the origional case then spray that?

another good painting faq is here
there's faqs on mirror effect and metallics :D

hum I don't fully understand your question since your english seems weird :)p) but I'll try...
-you don't want to cut the case after painting because you'll have to start all over
-if you cut your case, do it prior cutting because your paint will burn
-you have to sand the case before painting ^^

if you have cutting work to do... do it before painting...

    some tips

-sand between each thin coats (primer/paint/clear)
-if you are using metallics paint, use a compound on the last paint coat before the clear so you don't get rid of the metallic flakes.
-everyone asks for the number of coats.... it's case by case... but from my experience if your sanding between each coats you'll need: 4-5 primer coats / 5-7 paint coats / 5-7 clear coats. if you don't sand between coats it's 2-3 primer coats / 3-4 paint coats / 3-4 clear coats

if you want a mirror finish it's VERY time consuming BUT definitly worth it :D

    Paint tips

1.Wipe the case down with methyl hyrate, just to remove any imputiries

2.Apply a thin coat of primer (bath the spray can in a warm bowl of water to thin it out)

3.Sand with 500grit wet/dry sand paper until smoothe, then resand with 1000grit wet/dry.

4.Apply seccond coat of primer, wet/dry sand with 500grit then use 1000grit

5.Apply a thin coat of paint, hold the can on a 45degree angle and make only one pass with the can, releasing the button after every stroke, and dont go back to fix your mistakes, wait until the paint is dry, then sand and start over

    6 wet/dry sand with 500grit then use 1000grit

7.Apply a seccond even coat over the entire surface, using the same technique, and wet sand with 500grit then 1000grit then 1500grit. If you go through the paint coats and you can see the primer start over.

7.Apply your last coat (coat # 3) and sand with 500grit, then 1000grit, then 1500grit, lastly 2000grit this has almost no grit at all its ment to remove all your sanding marks.

8.Dont apply a spray clear coat, for these can be disastrous if any mistakes are made, instead buy SHOW CAR polish, it will make the case look like a ferrari at a car show.

This will work on both metal and plastic, happy modding.
