Does anyone have any experience in painting acrylic? I need to get some black acrylic but I can only get it in clear. I have painted plastic before but not acrylic. Anything I should look out for (like what kind of paint to use)? THanks!

I have used vinyl dye on both my plexi and plastic bezel and it works great. I really don't see a difference in the two when it comes to using vinyl dye on them except the surface. A search on it will probably bring up a few threads. (Project P I B)

As with normal painting, plan it out, take your time and use thin coats. Vinyl die does go on different than paint so it's hard to mess up, but take care none the less...

    good luck!

nice project :D ... ddk is on the money in what he says painting the back side (inside of the panel) where you are looking through to the painted side is a very nice/glossy/rich look.

While I agree with the painting advice you've been given, I can't believe you can't find opaque.

Try Ken @ Plexible Designs in downtown Overland Park. He's super cool and can get almost anything. If you're in a total hurry, Regal plastics (just north of the river) can hook you up too, that's the main warehouse for a national plastics company right in our backyard. (I live in Lenexa too.)
