    Planning to paint my monitor tomorrow (if the weather holds).
    Since I am a n00b to painting anything I need some help and advice.

    Questions :
    ========

    (1) Is vinyl die the way to go? or do I use traditional spray paint?

    (2) If I use vinyl stuff will I still need to use primer, and if I do is there a special primer for use with vinyl dies?

    (3) Do I need to apply anything afterwards? I'm not after a highly polished finish or mirror look, just after standard black case / keyboard looking finish.

    (4) Thanks!

    yes, vinyl dye is the way to go. You do not need to prime before using dye but you do need to clean the surface good before painting. You can lightly sand using a 1000-2000 grit paper but I have never seen the need to use it so far. Good luck.

    BTW, if you are planning to disassemble the casing of your monitor before painting, make sure you are very careful. There are some huge/much dangerous capacitors in a PC monitor that can cause you grave body damage.

    I've heard you can take your monitor to any TV repair place and have them discharge it for a negligible (if any) fee.

    I'd think that would be prudent.

    yeah. get that sucker discharged. if you touch one of the caps, i could send you flying across the room, thats how much power is in those things.

    Best i know vinyl dye is the way to go. I used it in my car and got pretty kickass results.

    Thanks, it's good to know that primer is not needed, the less painting the better me thinks, I hate doing it.
    As for insides of monitors, yeah I know they have loads of power in them, especially this 21" beast, lol. I have taken one of these apart before so I know to avoid the wires and stuff. Thanks anyway though.
    I will ofcourse be posting pics once it's painted and re-assembled - with a bl00 LED ofcourse :D
