Ive a plain black res, which I'd like to recolour into a nice metallic blue.

Im going to cover the fins and leave them black, but can I just use plastikote metal paint/radiator paint on the rest of the res?

I did, had no problems. Just covered the fins with masking tap and filled up the barb holes with rolled up paper. A little while later, a nice shiny chrome bix...

EDIT: Oh yeah, I used plastikote too...

Have just painted a few things this evening

My motherboard tray, radiator and floppy drive in metallic blue. All have had 3 coats and look sweet.

Plan a couple of layers of clear acrylic over the top and thats should do it.

I was thinking of painting my rad with silver paint to match my case (since it sits ontop of it) but wasn't sure if the extra layers of paint would effect it's cooling capability (the paint would act as an insulator?)

Have finished the paint job and it looks sweet!

Well my rad is now metallic blue.

2 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear acrylic.

    What a shine!

Will put pics in project log at some point as I have other plans now.
