okay on my current casing project that i need done in a month... for millionmanlan http://www.millionmanlan.com I need to spray a patter on the side the pattern itself is not too complicated (its the canadian flag)... too make it easy on my self i was gonna paint the white underneath with the red ontop.. i've already primed and about to paint white.. then i realized i dont have a template for making red leaf on bars.... well actually i need a negative space template (since i'll be painting white first) any1 know the best way going about this? i could tape it up, but it probably wont be perfectly symetrical that way... local sign shop would cost 37$ to make custom decal to use as template... anyw suggestions?

the best way for that kind of job is using templates... like you've talked about... just paint the panel red, then put the template, paint white then remove the template... et voila, a beautiful canadian flag :D

if you want to make the borders of the flag black, the you paint all black but you paint the area where the maple leaf will be red, then a little sanding to make everything flat and you continue.

that is the best way to make most of it on your own...

other than that, make your own template ;)

forget about maskin tape... you'll regret it...

that OR use an airbrush :D that would definitly kick butts  more difficult but best results:thumb:

just use a sharp blade to cut the board. not sure about the asymetrical design, possibly do it on yer comp and transfer? steady hand drawing? to prevent overspray i would do it light coats to make sure that it doesnt run under there. you can do it, i have faith in ya :thumb:
