Same here - and in agreement that this sort of thing is completely counterproductive and un-necessary. The footage I saw on the BBC of the event was extremely dramatic, looked like hundreds of women rushing the building, climbing over berms dug by Israeli bulldozers, and running right past the 'dozers and Israeli APCs/IFVs. Then it appeared a few warning shots were fired, then another volley which hit one of the group. To be honest if there were armed women amongst the group, it wouldn't surprise me at all - but still, the bottom line to me is the Israeli forces acted wrongly in opening fire on this crowd. I saw nothing that suggested they were a threat, I mean, its not like you can easily conceal an RPG launcher under their traditional clothing, and then whip it out to open fire without being rather conspicuous and vulnerable to getting shot before you can even take aim . And any smaller weapons would still be little more than a moderate threat to the Israeli forces present, given their supporting APCs, armoured bulldozers and IFVs. The fact that they somehow let the gumnen escape afterwards as well....sheesh. Just looks like incompetence and ill discipline, and thats at absolute best
Doesn't surprise me. The israeli's have a policy of "confirming kills" - this basicly means that if anyone gets wounded, you put bullets in their head to make sure they don't get up and shoot at you. This tends to apply even if they don't have guns on them. From a country as brutal as Israel nothing surprises me anymore.
