This is kinda a rip off of something from General Discussion. Does anyone know of any PDA's apart from the IPAQ which can be hooked up to a HD? The cheaper the palmtop the better. Must also be able to play MP3'S, and have an audio-out :).
Can anyone see where this is going? ;)

Maybe this should be in electronics....feel free to move...

If it supports a type II compact flash card then pretty much any palm top (i may be wrong?) can be hooked up to an IBM Microdrive....

Where is it going? - Personal MP3 player, IN car MP3.....

I know ipaq's can take a pcmcia card and then can be linked to a HD...any other plamtops?

Why not hook the Ipaq up to a PC in your boot with a huge hard drive via bluetooth? Hook the PC up to your speakers and use the Ipaq as a control mechanism. :)

The pc would require power, and as discussed quite a few times before, power regulation for PC's in a car requires a custom PSU, AFAIK. Ipaq's can run straight off the lighter socket, as can most palmtops. Also, I could easilyy hide a 2.5" or 3.5" somewhere in the dash, but not a whole pc case.

Also, I'm looking for CHEAP here. An IPAQ can play mp3's off a hooked up HD, so there is no need for another PC OR Bluetooth.

The question I am asking is:

IPAQ's cost a lot, even older models. Are there any other (...cheaper...) palmtops anyone knows of which can play MP3's, have an audio out and can be hooked up to a 2.5" or 3.5" HD?
