Hello All Now, on the front of it, I understand how frankly absurd this query is but never the less I have to make it. I live in a 150 yr old Victorian town house in Newmarket. I have lived hear for 4 years now and have made quite a home. There have been unexplained incidents prior to the main part of my query which I will explain later. I recently watched both Paranormal activity films. very good I might add, but I feel I may have not been watching alone as I am now hearing strange noises (footsteps etc.) and items are falling off their perch without reasonable cause. Could I have inadvertently taught an invisible resident a few tricks or is my imagination running wild? The incidents prior to this are, my mother and I had both gone to bed for the night and about an hour after going to bed there was a massive bang coming from the bath room. we both bolted out of our rooms to inspect this noise, to find the pumice stone in the bath (which it hadn't been before). I tried to replicate the sound to some effect but we were both pretty creeped out by it. we haven't had any disturbances until now. When something does happen I go in to overdrive trying to find a logical explanation but sometimes there just isn't one. any clues?
Your house is 150 years old, it will have structural movement. This usually happens in the evening/night as the temperature change causes movement in the materials of the house(expansion etc). You'll never notice it but it can cause friction (hence noise) and can move small items, causing them to fall. Maybe...
**** happens. Because we're wired that way, we see patterns in said random **** happening. We attribute complex events to a conscious mind directing them. We are predisposed to attend to what we expect and to filter out what we did not expect. And spooky films always, always creep us out. Your imagination is messing with you. You do not have ghosts. Your house is not haunted. Your mind, on the other hand...
I thought as much. Thanks for putting my mind to rest. I guess after watching those two films i was left slightly uneasy (who wouldn't be?!). As for thebang in the bath room, you have to understand, it was ****ing collossal. I guess we've always been slightly wary since then.
I am afraid that you are right, watching those films have taught the old ghost ( yes you have a ghost) a few tricks. The ghost never knew how to act until it was shown. I would suggest talking to it, usually on a dark stormy night. Ask some questions and see if there is a response. This may take some time. Hopefully it is a friendly ghost and does not harm you in the mean time. Now continue with the questions until you find out what it wants, you will need to use your imagination here, to ask the right questions. There is a bunch of good movies that could help and hey the ghost won't have seen them yet so have some fun
Forget what everyone else said. Your house is totally haunted. Ghosts are real, and I know this for fact since I've seen ghost hunter shows on the Discovery Channel. Your house probably has some kind of really evil poltergeist and you may not have much time left. I recommend hiring a medium and a certified ghost hunter. Remember that in that line of work the more expensive a paranormal agency is the more likely it is to be legit. You may also want to get a local priest to perform a cleansing, just to be sure. Also, I may be completely full if it, and what everyone else said may be true. I don't know, I'm not an expert. At any rate, you shouldn't be wasting your time with lame horror movies anyway. I guess the first one wasn't so bad in that "kind of wanted to be Blair Witch but was 10 years late to the game" sort of way. The second one sucked.
It would be epic if it's the OP's mum who is walking around at night, knocks something over on purpose, and then quietly sneaks back to her room, where she calls out: "geoboy.... did you hear that? geoboy???"
Yeah, just messing with you! Not buying the hippos (although I really wish they actually existed!). I think it is wolves in the walls. Obviously.
If it is a ghost living in your house rent free I would come to some kind of arrangement where it does the house work for you while your out.
If you see deja-vu's before such sounds, that means you should have taken the other pill. And that an evil ghost twin is chasing you. Like in that film that didn't exist.
