    Full story here

Just came across this and was utterly disgusted.

She should be made an example of, not let off, surely the courts have got better things to worry about other than a little girl throwing a tantrum because shes been rightfully charged.

The only reason she's famous to begin with is because people keep giving her the attention she so desperately seeks.

I wonder if a long sentence of zero publicity would be a worse punishment? It certainly would be nice for the rest of the world. Really, someone needs to make this child sit in time-out for a good, long time.

What would rock would be if they put her in solitary for the 45 days. I bet she would go insane being cut off from the rest of the world for that amount of time.

She did the crime so she should do the time, the only thing diferent from anybody else in the same boat is that she is rich and famous which in my opinion makes it more important that justice is seen to be done.

Meh, if she plays the justice system and wins that's fair enough. That's what everyone tries to do, to play the justice system.

If a non celeb had committed the same violation would they get 45 days in jail ?
If the answer is yes then she should suck it up and do her time. If the answer is no then why should she be made an example.

they'd actually get a more significant punishment I believe.

i think 45 days in jail is letting her off easy, not only did she get off easy for driving drunk in the first place, but when she blatantly violated the rules of her probation, she's barely getting a slap on the wrist imo

I think the implication is that because she's in the public spotlight she has a duty to behave responsibly. IMO though people who're rich and in the public spotlight, if we're going to call them special, might as well do what us regular poor people can't do and use their power and wealth to avoid jail.

Everyone should be punished to the full extent of the law under the circumstances surrounding any conviction, I am glad that she is getting 45 days in prison, it will show people that you cannot get away with stuff.

Judges are too soft on people these days in my view.

I'd like to see her sentenced the same as you or I. Too often celebs are getting away with crimes others would be put away for.

Didn't you get the memo? Justice is only for the lower classes.

    Sometimes the middle classes too.

I'm sure she (her people) would agree to the sentence if they can drag a camera crew in there to make a crappy tv show about it. The Simple Life... old title but it goes well with the circumstances, I doubt she will be going to many partys or premieres whilst in the slammer :p

"Ms Hilton 'provides hope for young people', the petition says"

Yeah right, not with atrocious spelling like this:

In a message on a MySpace website, Ms Hilton apparently endorsed the online appeal, saying: "My friend Joshua started his petition, please help and sihn it (sic). I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!"

Celebrities are people too, so there's no reason to treat them differently.

Its official people if you are rich and famous the law does not apply to you, i wonder what the sentence would have been in the exact circumstances if she was poor and just another face in the street.

Lets hope that next time she goes out driving when drunk she'll meet the blunt end of a concrete wall.
