Stuff like that happens so regularly here that most people with expensive cars park like tossers (i.e. across 2 parking spaces, etc) just to make sure stuff like that doesn't happen to them. It's one of those things where you go to insurance here, tell them where you parked, where you got bumped, and bring the quotes... they'll pay (your excess will be hard to swallow, but at least you're not paying full price)... I've had a window knocked out on the road by flying rocks, i've had a tosser in a pickup push my golf GTI into a kerb while parking (scratched my rim quite badly - had to replace that and 2 body panels).
That video was too funny. The way you did a shocked double take then a quick spin. Glad its sorted out for you.
Nice to see it back to good as new So glad you caught them. I watched a mecahnic reverse into my car and he promised to fix the damage, month later it was a friend that repaired my car, and this guy seemed to get away with it. Looked at his car today and he'd smashed his front wing to peices. He deserved it. If I wasnt a Christian I would have done it myself.lol
Haha, I love how you come out and are like 'eek eek' on the door and then look around. Seems like a classic 'wth?!'. Glad it all worked out. I bet you pulled up after they had parked right? Seems to be a accident of 'that wasn't there before' type of thing. To bad they did a 'hit and run'. Not very responsible.
That's what I want to know, too. Wonder what would happened if you had jotted down the license plate and called the cops. How'd you get the pickup to pull over anyways, or were they stopped somewhere else?
maybe the damage was caused when he ran them off the road, to cut there bodies up and leave in a ditch..
I feel bad for people who are hit. I was coming home from summer school with a guy I know, not a big fan of him, but he offered to drive if I pitched for gas money, anywho he was reversing without looking in a small court, and he wasn't reversing slowly, and he smoked another car. My brother is a mechanic, and I work with him, and from what I saw, the other car needed an entirely new door, which could cost roughly 200-300 for a used door, plus another 100 - 200 for paint and fitting. Meanwhile, this guys car had a scratched bumper, and all he said was "OH **** WE GOTTA GET OUTTA HERE, WAS ANYONE LOOKING?!" He had no decency to leave a note, and he tried to play it off on the phone to his father that it wasn't his phone. This guy is a terrible driver as he's had 3 accidents, all involving non-moving cars, so it shows his inadequate driving abilities. I wanted to say something, but when I said you should go back he was having none of that. I wanted to do more, but I wasn't sure what I could do. It was 1 year ago roughly, and now that I think of it, I shoulda found my own ride to that owners house, and notified them of what happened. I still feel ashamed I did nothing, and I just don't understand what the hell is wrong with people. We are raised to take responsibility, and whenever something bad happens, they run scared to mommy and daddy and refuse to take responsibility for their actions. To make it worse, the kid's parents didn't even punish him, they didn't make him pay for their own repair, they didn't take the car away from him, nothing. Really sickens me how people can do such terrible things without any remorse for the other.
The store is just a couple miles away from my home, I know the owners pretty well. I asked for the video and they were more than happy to help out. I did, but If had hadn't caught them I prolly would've had to pay for the repair myself. Cops said that if we both left the scene on private property they can't determine who's fault it is. That was before I knew I could get the video so I don't really know what would've happened if they saw the video. They were pulling into a dump to drop off their trash just up the road and I pulled in right behind them. The funny thing is that when they got out and saw me that just went about their business like nothing happened until I brought up that they hit my truck!
