I'm going to be (hopefully) getting a job soon. pays $52.50 a week. that may not be much, but my total income is $15 now. on top of the job i (might) be getting this summer (local theater, oh yeah! ) I should be in the money (though without time to mod :waah: ) i want to make a pellican style computer (is that right? its in one of those waterproof containers) and SPACE IS AT A MINIMUM!!! heres the concept parts:

    Mobo:
I've got a P4 IBMS motherboard in my room (no CPU :waah: ) rated to 2.8 GHz, but i might need an ITX mobo

    CPU:
fastest i can afford for above mobo

    Power supply:
small one at about 200-300 watt. (need your help there)

    monitor:
my Ghetto 19" CRT or a flat panel if money suddenly grows on trees. but i have seen the screens from laptops on eBay for sale... hmmmmmm...

    Sound sys.:
my dad has some old-skool headphones with the plug as big as a small child (you know, from the 1980's) it even has balance and volume on the side of the right phone!

    HDD:
little laptop drive or my 80 gig tagged for my "new" (*ahem* upgrade) to my existing P2 SLOT CPU. cant get those anymore. went the way of the disco.

    Drives:
tiny floppy drive (do they make slimline?)
Slot-load, Slim-line (like 3/4" or less, you know?) DVD-RW (*are these made?* )

    Keyboard:
check this out: I'm gonna get an old school keyboard (absolutely flat, no curves) and mod it to the plexi top of the case. It'll be a clamshell w/ all the components on the "bottom" and a monitor on "top"
    *******************************************************

I'll have a cold cathode (white) on top of the monitor and shine down on the keyboard, with a small lip at the bottom to keep glare off the screen. it'll have not cuts through the outside, it'll still be waterproof. w/ a padlock on the outside, total security

    whaddaya think?

Power supply: Small + 300w = 1U rackmount. Expect to pay quite a bit. It is easier to get a hold of a PSU for a Shuttle XPC, which have fairly decent power ratings as is an are small

Monitor: DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT USING A LAPTOP DISPLAY. Go to the Electronics forum, read the sticky, and don't even mention the idea again.

Drives: Slim-line floppy? Why bother? USB Pen Drive baby! Not sure if slimline DVD-RW exists, but CD-RW/DVD-ROM is definitely viable.
