When I first played Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix on my 286, it would run about 10 FPS with textured polygons, turning off textured would increase FPS to about 20 FPS which was something to write home about...... when I was 12 ;)

    One point of note -

NO bit-tech review of the 1080...

Has bit fallen from grace since the ownership change???

Apparently Nvidia UK don't have any as the shipment was lost . If you weren't in Texas you don't have one basically.

£620 uk launch price according to trusted reviews. Good luck with that one. Puts it £200 above a founders edition 1070.

They can keep it for that money. If a 1070 is £420 then they can keep that too!! Second hand 980ti here i come.

That is the top end first release of founder editions. The partner cards will not be priced like that. Certainly not the 1070, unless they all plan on not selling any! There should be some around or under the £300 mark, or there will be by July.

Looking on ebay a 980ti is somewhere between £350-£400, no chance am I getting one for that money if the 1070 beats it.

Id expect the 1070 to destroy the 980ti in dx12 and be similar speed in all other titles.

Partner 1070 for £350 that offers 980ti performance sounds like the option.

Really does depend what price partner 1080s will be £500 to £550 is my guess with the top end evga hydro cards probably closer to the £620 founder price if not above.

Middle of July will be the time to buy for both should have some customs and maybe a decent price to go with it. Evga 980ti hydro launched 20 days after the orginal 980ti. So it's doable in that timescale.

Very strange. I assume there must be some reason for it, but it's certainly a watershed moment for Bit Tech.

From reviews it shows about 20-28% better performance than 980Ti, if I'm correct.
That's pretty good result I say.
I wonder when 1080Ti will come out. End of year? Could be Christmas time, what do you guys think?

Whenever Vega is scheduled to launch + - 1month. Would be a regular AMD move. Reduce the 1080 and 1070 to hit price points where Vega is competitive.

Could well be 2017 before we see either. With a new Titan a certainty before all this.

    My cynical sentiments exactly.

Expect a Titan Q or some-such for something upward from £1x00, around Vega launch. Followed by a 'Ti' a few days or weeks after Vega, which sends the 1080 and 70 down to 9xx reasonable mid-range prices.

    :sigh:

I hope AMD hits the sweet spot with either of their next releases, because I am ready to ditch the green greed machine.

Tbh I'm expecting the 1070 to trade blows with the 980Ti. It's supposedly about 75% of the 1080, with the latter being up to 20-30% better than a 980Ti. So those rough numbers match up. Really depends on pricing now, but I can see the FE being £400 and the normal one around £320-350. Keeps sales of the 970 and lower going while there is stock at the <£250 level.

Vega will be a DX12 card so I think AMD are just waiting for more DX12 games to highlight this. From all accounts Async still isn't working on Pascal it's just brute force getting it through.

They said October, so you can expect actual cards in November time. Right around the time Nvidia launch a Titan, if they can get the price of HBM2 down. Right now they'd need to charge several thousand pounds, because yields on large dies are lower and you waste more silicon. That coupled with current HBM2 price? yeah, not really viable right now IMO.

They did not say October they said 2017 on official screens to shareholders.

The October stuff is just pure rumour mill. HBM2 yields are really low if the rumours are true.

Could be March next year before we see a consumer HBM2 card that is not £1x00+ price.

Nvidias pricing is crazy for FE cards.

There is some sites reporting that none FE cards could be around £450 though. That's what is been mensioned on trusted reviews that might be before VAT though.

I'm not sold (I'm not any way) on this whole Founder's Edition nonsense. If you look up Gamersnexus on the tube you will see that they removed the stock cooler and fitted a EVGA hybrid. Then they tried overclocking it but the power phases were so bad that they had to clock the memory to pretty much 0 so they could get to 2.2ghz. Then they went back to a lower number and benched it and scored 1% on average over the clocks on air.

So two things are certain here. The first is that the Founder's edition does not have enough juice and the card needs over volting and secondly this card is no "overclocker's dream". Sorry, but when Nvidia fail they need chastising too.

It's obvious that Nvidia have spent some time making absolutely certain that Pascal was as "better than Maxwell" as is humanly possible. This means there isn't much left for enthusiasts to squeeze out of it. Will better fets sort this issue out? I don't know man. As I said, it all smells kinda fishy like Nvidia have done the rinse and repeat already.

IT's also just Maxwell on speed.

    Bring on Volta.
