Right, I'm in my car already a running a bit late and the orange light comes on telling me I'm about to run out of petrol :grr:

"No problem", I think, turning off to pop into the local Tesco petrol station...

I swear there must have been a huge 4x4 at nearly every pump. I sit there waiting and waiting, tapping on the wheel to the music as you do (right?).

At last, someone's finished filling their gas gusler. They replace the fuel cap and slowly wonder over to the kiosk, only to stand in the queue waiting to pay. WTF?!?! Your not buying anything from the shop, your noting taking a cr*p, why didn't you pay at the pump!?!? You can't say that you didn't know about it cause you had you to press either the pump at pump or kiosk button before you could use it!

It's sooo much quicker paying at the pump, why don't people do it?

PS - Ain't it funny when someone tries to use a pump without pressing the pay at whatever button and they can't work out why it's not working :D

Non of the stations by me offer pay at the pump. It would speed things up, theoretically at least.

I think many of the middle \ old aged people that flock to the Sainsburys station by me at the weekends would just be confused by it all...

It's a good idea when you have a credit card ;) For those of us that don't, we still have to pay at the kiosk... It's a good idea though, i know a lot of people that use it simply so they don't have to speak to the smarmy, grumpy attendant. :p

    1. They dont have a credit/debit card at hand. (Unlikely in this day really)
    2. 'Ive paid at the kiosk for years, why should I change?'
    3. They enjoy p!ssing you off :p

Please say that was an attempt at sarcasm?

OK, fair enough if your paying by cash, but this person wasn't.

You don't have a debit card?

I think its because they want them to pay in the garage, that way they might pick up some sweets or a drink or something whilst there in there.

I stood by the pump for ~3 mins waiting for the clock thing to reset just after I'd passed my test before the woman at the kiosk told me I needed to press one of the "pay at kiosk" / "pay at pump" buttons...felt like a right idiot.

I think my card is a bit duff. None of the pay-at-the-pump pumps at tescos like it.

I'll need to check the big Tesco to see if it has this, the Safeway/Morrison around here don't.

I usually Pay@Pump, but just recently I've taken to paying in the kiosk - not to be a pain in the arse to others waiting, but as it's the only way to redeem the money off vouchers I get from shopping in the supermarket.

I find this odd. The voucher has a barcode on it. Why can't they just put a barcode scanner on the side of the pump so you can do it there? That's all the attendant in the kiosk does...

Anyway - if I haven't got a voucher, I Pay@Pump. Our Tesco's also has a Pay@Pump only row of pumps on it's forecourt, which is always the busiest but quickest moving queue.
