I use either Texaco or Sainsburys. Neither of those have pay at the pump.

Should look into it, some gas stations offer cheaper rates for those with their gas card.

The majority of times I've pulled into a petrol station that offers you the choice of paying at the pump or at the kiosk they've turn the damn pump option off.

It pisses me off, why go to all the trouble of spending all that money and installing new pumps if you're never going to use the pay@pump function?

It'd save me time, and as a bonus stop me buying something they've plonked next to the till inside just because it's there.

Oh yea, I forgot that there is a law in New Jersey that forces all gas stations to be full-service. There's only 1 near where I live, but I always go to the Mobile station (their 91 octane is the best) to pay-at-the-pump.

Its awesome having the cheapest gas in the country and full service!
around $1.90 per gal fills up my Monte Carlo with Super 93 at Exxon and Mobil. The best part is that I'm a fat and lazy American so i don't even get out of the car! :D

The tesco pumps near me can't read my clubcard, let alone my credit card. I now don't bother wasting my time trying to pay at the pump and always go to the kiosk.

because you would keep the voucher at the end so they would have to add a deposit box and "trust" people :D As the barcodes on vouchers arnt unique to each individual one.

Try 2.49 for the 87 in the burbs outside Chicago.

I was in NJ (near Morristown) a few months ago for work and got reamed by an attendant when I got out of the U-Haul to fill it up. Full service and cheap gas is awesome, but try finding a convenient store in NJ. Every corner in Chicago has a station with a huge indoor market for everything from nuked burritos to a six pack and lotto tickets.

Personally I use a SpeedPass to pay at the pump. It’s a keychain RFID that links to my CC. No hassles.

I use one to. It Pwns. Put $25 on it at the pump, walk into the Mobil mart and then pick up a few bottles of Bawls. Easiest and best way to blow $30. I don't carry much money on me anymore when i drive because of my speedpass. :)

Yep, I know what you mean. When McD's used to take it, the wife would zip through with the kids about every other day. :duh: Getting fat and going broke, the American way.

I've never seen or even heard of these. Sounds like a great idea too.

I only usually get petrol at one place though, because it's the cheapest nearby.

i rarely pay at the pump, so im one of those "dumbasses" but i have my reasons
my bank charges me $5/month to use an account with unlimited transactions. but im cheap and take the $1.50/month account which gives me 10 transactions per month, and its $.50 per transaction after that. service fees, however, at pay at the pump cost $1.50 in my case as well, as i have an account with a bank that hasn't signed on for that thing or whatever, i dunon, its complicated.
but my bank gives me free ATM access if i use the one at my bank, so every week i just go and take out onwards or therearound $100. this will cover my gas and other expenses and keep my visits to the bank a minimum.
so i pay cash instead of payatthepump because in the end it is a lot cheaper, and if im paying $1.50 one or two times per week, that works out to be $12/month for a conveniance that i cannot justify. that's also about 120/year that i save by not using pay at the pump...
    .thats a satelite radio subscription!
oh and by the way (because i know some pay at the pump is credit-card based) i do not have a credit card due to other complications, but, id imagine if i did have a credit card that i would probably consider using pay at the pump a little more often.

In boring old Stafford there are a fair few stations that only take pay-at-the-pump!

im hated in most petrol stations

i pull up to the pump slowly, get out and check i shut all my windows

then lock the car before forgetting my new car locks the fuel fuller when the central locking is kicked in

i then unlock the car and start to pump, when the pump clicks off i take the hose out and waggle it around, lifting the hose to get all i can in the tank

then i put the filler cap in, lock the car checking my boot/doors are locked

go into the kiosk and ahve a quick look for a bag of crisps or sommat

    pay for my fuel

unlock my car get my pen and pad from the golve box and write down the current milage on the trip meter, i then zero the trip meter

    swap cd's
put my seatbelt on, start the car, drive off

when im paying over 87p a bloody litre im taking as long as i bloody want :D
