Ya those shopping carts are loaded on your Internet Browsers Cache. But wit a $1000 budget your gonna want to find the bargain sleepers. Bascially look for well reviewed parts mainly Ram on newegg that are inexpsnive but get good reviews. The idea is not to spend the most money but to get what works. Because the main thing you will need is overclockable stuff. It is much cheaper to get overclocks with cheaper stuff than to get uber expensive stuff. i will go search. I want a system myself and think that a good mobo is definately a start to the overclocking game. bbs with an edit.

Just a quick add. Would you plan to upgrade maybe go SLI or crossfire? Helps improve graphics when you get the money. A good starter card then another in sli or crossfire is a good way to shave off a few bucks fromn the start.

Ok - Here's some serious advice from someone with very much build experience - STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM TIGER DIRECT AS POSSIBLE

I would recommend www.NewEgg.com or Fry's electronics for most parts. Fry's is good if you watch for sales and research prices. You can find great deals at Fry's if you wait for the right sale. NewEgg has very very good prices and fantastic customer service.

One more time - STAY AWAY FROM TIGER DIRECT
    --------------------------------
    to your parts -
*core duo or core duo 2
*reputable motherboard (gigabyte or MSI. The motherboard is the single most important thing to decide when doing a build.)
*Hard drive: Choice 1 - wd raptor 150gb; Choice 2 - any 7200rpm 8mb cache drive from seagate or WD; never a maxtor - ever
*vid card - depends on budget left after you buy everything else
dvd burner and enclosure should be selected based on your tastes. For PSU - buy quality with enough wattage to do what you need
    --------------------------------
The main computer I have been using for the last several months is a Dell - (I took apart my other machine to start a project and - uh - proceeded to do absolutely nothing.......)

I second that. My first experience with TD was good. And that was my last. The past 2 experiences have been nothing but headaches. NEVER FROM TIGER AGAIN. They better be selling 1 cent harddrives before I even consider them again.

for the core 2 duo hit the e6300. mobo would be gigabyte or asus ( dont know much about msi). get one of those seagate 320gb sata drives from newegg for 95 bucks with a 5 year warranty ( i know that helps plus with a 16 mb cache i think). drop the raptor because it would kill ur budget. but if ur budget cant fit the 95 dollar hd get one of those 80gb hd's. 35 dollar dvd burner on newegg, and the case would indeed be ur choice and the psu i said in my other "unhelpful" post you saw.

newegg is an amazing seller. everything i have ordered from them usually came in 2 days on the 3 day ups unless it was a weekend. sometimes i even go to newegg over other places just because of that kind of service even if it costs a bit more.

ps for the guy who made the thread: hmm the guy who made this thread must not have read my other post. there is no need for him to say sorry, all he had to do was spend that time writing that comment and post the parts and so that he can wake up tomorrow with some posts to help him out. to show that he didnt even read my post he apologized yet didnt see when i said your link doesnt work.

he says thanks for nothing yet he posted nothing about his specifications.

    and thats gg

You know findme, You and i are not hitting it off to well. I saw that the link didnt work in your last post because i do read what you say, just so you know, but then you proceeded to call me to lazy because i cant just list the parts. Well just so you know that was around 11 o'clock last night and i was tired and i did say that I WILL LIST THE PARTS TOMMOROW. I just figured that i would give the shopping cart link a shot so i could go to bed so i wouldnt be tired in the morning. Now if its ok with you FINDME i would like to quit the bitching back and forth and get back to the thread. Thanks buddy.

    *Parts List*
    (Newegg Prices)
    Gigabyte GA-956P-DS3 and Core 2 Duo deal-$350

    2GB Ram. 6400 Mushkins-$190

    X850XT

    Seagate 320gb hardrive- $95

Aspire Atx 500 watt PS- $40

    GigaByte Case $90
    or
    Cooler master case-$85
I think the Cooler Master is better.

Later on i will be buying this monitor, mouse, and keyboard.

    Hanns-G monitor

    Rosewill Keyboard

    Rosewill mouse

With shipping it brings me out to about $950, Right where i want to be.
If anyone can substitute something in for something else that will help lower the price I would really appreciate it.
    .....................................................................................................
Also with the Cooler master case it comes with a 380 PS, Do you think thats enough to power the system or no?
    ....................................................................
Another thing, Will i notice a huge difference in speed with the system compared to my old P4 2.8 with 384 mhz of ram. Im am wondering because the E6300 is a 1.8 and the other one i had was a 2.8.
    Thanks for your help scq

I've noticed that the prices for the Core 2s on Newegg are rediculously more expensive than other places. I ALWAYS buy from newegg, they are awesome. I can expect the prices to be a little higher due to demand, but I'll be avoiding that 460 dollar E6600 thank you.

So far you rbuild looks pretty nice.

Yes i did notice that to, But you guys say to stay away from Tiger so i will, I think tigers price on that Core 2 Duo is $209 as where Neweggs is $229. But the build looks okay so far, thats good to know. BTW neo, Where in connecticut do you live?

Sounds pretty decent from what you've listed. You might wanna search for a second hand X1800 perhaps, see if you can get a bargain for a similar price. Depends how much gaming you do.
You'll notice a MASSIVE difference with 2gig of ram.

I really dont game often, its just that every once and a while you get a craving to play a computer game, but with my other computer i couldnt because of that sucky mx440. I think that the x1600 will be alot different in quality lol. So i will notice a massive difference huh, Nice, it will be cool to actually experience a fast system. Thanks alot BindiBadgi for your help. BTW, Everything i have listed their is compatible right guys?

    Not only me helped :)

FYI: Spike/Jamie was playing on his Macbook and X1600 and beating the rest of bit staff in a Quake 4 tourny the other day. The rest of us were on SLI machines :( fps isn't everything to win :D

    EDIT: NOO!! The X1600 Pros are 512meg DDR2 = BAD! Go for the 256meg X1600XT GDDR3! $131 for a Sapphire one.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102657

Or a X850XT For $125 with $30 rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102505 Might be faster than X1600.. should be. It's 256bit memory compared to X1600s 128bit and is "16pipe". But you dont get HDR and stuff.

eVGA 7600GT for $150 after rebate:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130283

I'd personally go for the loud X850XT if you can put up with the fan (that can be changed I suppose), but the X1600XT would probably be my next buy being "as fast" as the 7600GT.

The X1600XTs (and 7600s) are only 12/5 and clocked faster than the Pros, but the X850XTs are 16/6 and it has twice the memory bandwidth, but it's a hotter 130nm chip compared to the others 90nm. The fan is only loud when gaming though and before the drivers are installed. Once the ATI drivers are on and you're in windows you can set the fan to be something silly like 10% speed, or, you can always buy an artic cooler for it for not too much.

I should stop editing and just post replies instead since you post as I edit. The Xclio is NVIDIA SLI cert and the MSI is 500W and a decent manufacturer, although Ive never used either for PSUs before Xclio seem to have recently hit the market with quite a range of SLI PSUs.
