I'm building a system for a friend, and he ended up gettin the aforementioned motherboard and a 2600+ (as well as ram, video card, case, PSU, dvd/cdrw, and a 80gb drive). I put it all togather and pluged in all the buttons and leds and whatnot to the mobo plugged it in and happily hit the button. Then nothing happened (no fan movement no hard drive movement no PSU fan movement no leds, nothing) =( i hit the button several more times.. and nothing. I have since unplugged everything from the mobo but the power button and the atx power and tried it, no dice. tried 2 other known good PSUs, nothing. Tried a xp2000+ proc, nothing. tried different ram. remounted the motherboard to make sure it was installed properly (it was). I'm afraid the motherboard is DOA and im gunna have to return it. In the manual for the motherboard I dont see anything that I have missed as far as jumpers or something. Can anyone think of something I missed? I HATE having to send dead motherboards back, it takes so long and is such a hassle.

try changing the clear CMOS jumper, from open to closed, or vice versa.

PC chips mobo's often ship with the clear cmos in the wrong position. I just want to make sure you've tried booting with it in both positions?

or try the power switch on different pins?

ok, im in class right now but when i get home I will try that again. I never tried booting the computer with it in the other position I just moved it to clear the cmos then moved it back. I hope this is it!

That is likely to be the problem. You'll be amazed how many people it catches out :D Take a look here

    Yay!

Sorry for the late reply, but things got a little hectic (week before spring break).

    But aaaaaaannnnyyway.....
IT WORKED!!!! Moved it over and the computer starts right up!! Thank-you sooo much monkeyspank, this has saved me a LOT of time!

I have learned two lessons from this. 1) ALWAYS look for things you might not expect. 2) When you select "pre-test" that is just a scam, because I highly doubt that they put the jumper back to the clear position after pretesting.

    AND THANK-YOU AGAIN!
