3 things 1 it is the psu cause this lockup happens durring games and randomly, im not gona go on why it is 2 yes that looks damn close if not exact to my psu 3 im not a psu expert infact i really dont know anything about psu cept how to plug stuff in, so this could be a problem to
i just exetided ffxi and my screen is so fked up can bearly read the txt i am typing this is gona to far and to worse is it my psu or not i have to fix this!?!
ok lets play. unplud it ALL you play FFXI right? So unplug all but the Hd you need the cd you need if any. unplug any lights etc.. get you power to the bar min the pc will run at then try playing again. if it's good then it's the PSU if not then it still might be the PSU we just can't get the usage down far enough.
i cant unplug the cddrive and boot with out fubaring windows? the only other thing i have to unplug is a coldcathrode light and a hdd cooler ima try that and let you know
i don't think you need the drive. my lappy cd drive is removable and it boots fin with it removed and nothing in it. You may need it to play the game though
results time: ffxi ran a lil smother, it had a couple of frezze molments both of which i heard a hum noise from the psu and then it unfrozze i ran some nvid demos seem just a lil choppy i mean just slightly, ran ffxi bench3 whent well, you could tell the the psu was working hard beasue the fan would spin faster and i would here this kinda a hummm nosie i un plugged the cd drive a cold cathrode light and a mini fan fron a hdd cooler on abit eq the voltage read about the same with all the stuff plugged in, im not realy sure what they mean but ill give some results there about: 12V is reading at 11.72 just droped to 11.61 cause my system is cooling down ok now its 11.84 and now its 11.66, 11.78 ,11.72 , 11.84,11.66 so it seems to be fluxuating (these results are in chonological order about every 5 or 6 second apart when i looked at) and the 5V is reading at 5.29 and going up 5.31 and back to 2.29, psu fans just droped 1000rpms and rises 1000rpms, spinning at 3000 and went down to 2000 and back up there are lots more gauges and stuff but i think these are the most important ok there seems to allot of up and down with the voltage as you can see up there ^^^^^^^^, when i had my other low end gfx card it was a little bit more stable with flow. can you guy tell me what this is and if it is my psu, can you tell me why?
ok stayed up till 1:30 working on this problem, i hope i get simething out of it btw, just to let you know i wont be on till late tommarow so i wont be able to post back till then
My buddy has a similar setup and he had a similar problem with his pc, it randomly locked up and froze during game play, this hapened because of the crapy thermal pad intel suplied with the heatsink, a dab of arctic silver and hes riding at 3.5ghz and dosent freze anymore but hes still seing 65+c on the core.......
funny thing is a allready have that on my psu and ihave a themtank heatsink with 1 soon to be 2 80mm fans on it so it has nothing to do with my psu
ok i changed around the wiring line i now have the drives pluged in to 1 line ' power button and 1 gfx molex on 1 line and 2 fans and 1 gfx molex on another plz tell me ASAP if i can do this safely!!!!!!???????? i am not continuing testing until i get a reply due to: MY GPU IS FKING EXPENSIVE I DONT WANT TO DAMMAGE IT DUE TO POWER FAILURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So are you saying that you have one line plugged into the gfx ONLY and on the other just 2 fans?? if so that should be fine, although i would even it out so theres one fan on each personally . Death
no my gfx card has 2 molex connectors i am saying this line 1: cd dvd drive line 2: 2 fans, gpu molex 1 line 3: power switch, gpu molex 2 edit: i looked at your sig, im against tcpa too!!!!
Yeah that should be ok, but why does ure power button need power?? Does it light up or sumthin? . Death
Didn't read the whole thread but... That sounds like driver issue. IRQ/DMA to be more precise. Reinstall OS and drivers. And by reinstall I mean start from the scratch. Format when installer asks to do so, repair install might not do the trick.
i see what your saying but if you read everything, you might come to some other conclutions, i will take this into consideration if it keeps up, the rewire seems to have fixed it read the whole thread so you can see what im saying
still seems to lock up though not as much....hummmm i might just consider reinstalling and reformating should i get a new psu????? i need some consulting on this matter
