    Hi Guys

    I really hope that someone might be able to assist me with this problem I have.

    I've just completed to build a new pc;
    P4 3GHz Intel
    ABit IS7 Motherboard
    1GB RAM DDR333 PC2700
    120GB SATA HDD
    GeForce FX5600 256MB Graphics card
    Case with 450W Power Supply

    Here is the problem
    I've installed Win XP Home with no problems, but once the installation is done it will just randomly reboot. No error msg's, just reboot as if you would press the reset button. Yeah, I have unpluged even the reset button... lol.

    I have checked and double check the jumper settings, I have updated to the latest BIOS, with sume luck I could install the SP1 for XP .... but it did not solve the problem.

    Can anyone tell me what the cause of this problem can be, please!

    Thanks
    DeadSet

    It could also be your motherboard or a heat issue as well.

    I don't think that it is a heat issue, because it sometimes reboot 2-3 times before XP is even loaded .... also when XP is eventualy running and if I am lucky enough to install or run the hardware monitor it shows all heating and fan operation 100% fine

    Just a thought but try disabling any Power Functions in BIOS and see if that helps.

    no because it sounds like a hardware issue because XP hasn't even had the chance to screw up.try swapping PSU's.

    ok didn't see above posts.still try another PSU.

    Thanks guys for all you help and suggestions, but please explain this one thing to me;

    Why is it possible to install XP without it rebooting once during that 20-30 min?
    Surely if there was a problem with the PRU or Motherboard it should cause a reboot during that?

    Thanks

    Reinstall Xp and when it says "Press F6 to load a raid driver" press F5 and try using a different HAL.

    I sort of had the same problem, I tried reinstalling it and used a different HAL and haven't had it since.

    because during the install its not drawing much power.if you start you use 80% of the CPU you use a lot of power(watts)the PSU can't supply the power needed and cuts out/your PC reboots.

    Well guys ...

    It is NOT the memory ..... have tried 2 different sticks ...
    It is NOT the PSU .... got a new 550W PSU and same problem
    It is NOT the graphics card, got another AGP card ... same problem
    I have checked and rechecked every BIOS setting..

    Some observations:
    PC will reboot at random, sometime when it is inactive and sometimes when you try to do something.
    The 120 GB SATA hard drive is a bit hot, is that normal?

    Thanks guys....

    Make sure your booting from the CDROM if you havent installed Windows XP yet. If not make sure your booting from the Hard drive if you have installed XP, bet you thats the problem.
