Hello there Guys, I just wanted to know if you guys can recommend me a really Good PC Remote Control. I am gona get a TV Turner, but I was just wonder if there is a Remore Control that would control my PC. For Example, Launch Apps like Media Player, DVD Player Software, (On/OFF would be really Sweet). I just did a quick search on the web and I ran into the SnapStream Media Firefly PC Remote Control. Your thoughts on this Remote Control and any other you guys know of, please share it with me. Also do Any of Logitech's Remote Control PC's? THX!
Home made serial receiver + Universal remote = 15USD Take a look at lirc (linux) and winlirc (windows) for more information and how to.
i've had the windows media center remote for about four years. it has great range, good battery life, easy to use, etc. however, if not for my soldering iron and ncix's awesome warranty program, it would have lasted about three months. i wouldn't recommend it if you don't want to be doing repairs.
lirc and winlirc can still use a number of remotes out there. What tv turner are you planning to get and will it be for SD or HD? If it's SD, make sure you get one that has an onboard MPEG-2 encoder such as the Hauppauge PVR-250 which by the way comes with a great remote control. Also, depending on your needs for the PC, don't run windows! Use Knoppmyth which is a LINUX distro for mythtv which is hands down the best and most powerful software you can run.
