    abit ip35 pro
    q6600
    2gb ballistix
    hd3870 pcs 512 ddr4
    tagan 500w dualengine
    antec nine hundred

so why does my machine on a shutdown power off then on again and bootup?
I've got no idea why this happens:S

It did it with my old case aswell so it's not some stupid power switch problem so i can't work it out.
i haven't changed anything in the bios for wake on lan or anything like that? unless its on already?
any ideas.i usually leave it on but when i wanna just use the lappy i don't enjoy getting under the desk to turn the psu switch off...

    cheers

In the bios, check for 'On AC Power Loss' and see if it's set to 'Power On' or something similar.

Could be overheating. Just after it does it again, go into the BIOS and check what your temps are.

The BIOS may have many wake features. Some mobos wake on activity from VGA (monitor), PCI master (any PCI card), LAN, Modem, Keyboard/Mouse... Also check your Windows power settings (in Control Panel) and shutdown settings. That "Shut Down" icon you are clicking may actually be configured to perform a Restart.

Yeah I had the same problem as kenco, turned out it was a Nvidia process that was the cause though.

Many of the Tagan PSU's do this when extra power is demanded, such as when overclocking CPU and GPU. Mine does the same at power on, something to do with splitting the rails I think. At lower power demand it just switches on as normal.
