    Try without the GPU.

Done that as well :( I'll try my old psu and see what happens there.

You connected any boot device to the power/motherboard as I can see the DVD Drive is disconnected in the pictures.

Assume the HDD is connected properly?

Yeah try that, basic setup as well. Adding bits at a time.

And Blogins, we're getting him to unattach stuff as it wasn't powering on properly originally (shutting down by itself if I remember correctly) :thumb::lol:

Oh BTW, you still need to see if it works with your new GPU and old PSU dude. That's the second step after ensuring it's all cabled up properly.

There should have been a 2 molex to PCI-e connector.

I actually meant your new PSU with your old GPU though, that's what I meant, try that!

Oh and when running one stick of memory, use the 2nd slot from the cpu socket. Just incase :)

Edit: when you took the gpu out, did you physically remove it form the slot or just unplug the power connectors?

Just be aware that Scansure will only cover goods you bought from Scan - i.e. if the motherboard is dead, you can't claim on your policy.

Also, Scansure is designed to replace equipment you receive from Scan that is in perfect working order which you then go and break by installing, accidents etc (taking all reasonable care of course!).

If it's dead on arrival, Scansure isn't needed - you just send it back to Scan as faulty and they'll refund/replace. I had to do this once and Scan were very fast in sending a replacement.

You are also only covered for 28 days, so if you need to claim, make sure you do so before that time expires.

I don't know if I'm being stupid and not had time to look at pics yet but should there not be a 8 pin plug as well as the 20+4?

Hmm. I used my old psu and graphics card. Worked. I used my new power supply and old graphics card. Card spins, CPU fan spins, but the case fan doesn't and the computer shut down after a while. I try my PSU in my brothers PC with a 7800 GTX and it works fine. So I have no idea what could be wrong. The power supply doesn't work with either card in my PC but worked in my brothers.

EDIT: I think one of my ram sticks fried as well. I removed it and thats when the computer actually started to boot.

Tested power supply with brother comp. Worked. Tried my 6870 in his. Worked. So somehow my computer is incompatabile with the power supply.

Probably because it's a Dell? They like to change tiny things that only allow you to use Dell components.

Ill get the link later, but there was a guy that had a Corsair hx620 and a 5850 in the exact same comp as mine. I don't think scan will refund me if I just say "Hurr durr it didn't work" Because it functions in other computers :(

If my motherboard is the problem, I could buy a new one, right?
