I have an eMachine 770 came to switch it on today switched on the mains at the plug socket and there was a flash not sure if it came from the back of the tower or the surge protector and now it wont turn on theres no lights on any where it seems completely dead ive done the usual checks changed power lead, fuse in plug, plug straight into the mains etc. But still no joy,i was wondering if it could be the psu its a bestec ATX-250-12E hope some one can help :sigh:

at least you won't get a new virus!

emachines usually have very poor power supplies. both of the ones i have have both blown their supplies.

i am gonna say the ps is the culprit, but if you got parts and the know how, switch out to rule out the motherboard. also inspect the inside of the case for possible shorts.

otherwise you can replace it with a normal power supply
