Hi Guys, Heres the summary... Right my bro has been on his PC tonight as per usual, he turn off his pc because he wanted to go on the Xbox. The PC was working 100% fine whilst he was using it, he didnt get any email attatchments or whatever just read his email and went on msn and then turned it off. Specs: - AMD 3200+ S939 - DFI NF4 Ultra-D - Nvidia 6600GT - Akasa 460W Now what happens is that I can't turn on the PC at all. At first I thought it might have been a dodgy cable connection on the front panel, but I cant even turn it on by pressing the 'power' switch on the board. Now I have checked the power supply, I booted it up using the 'hot-wire' method and got out my digital multimeter. The 3 rails are fine, so I've eliminated the PSU as being a problem. I've cleared the CMOS and I still get no answer, I have unplugged everything but the bare essentials and I still get no result. The case hasn't been knocked or anything, its been sitting in the same position for like 8 months (I thought that it might be shorting, but it hasn't moved.) BTW the little yellow LED at the bottom comes on, so there is some power going to the board. Could anyone provide any help or maybe suggestions? Replies appriciated.
If you disconnect/unplug everything except CPU from the mobo and ensure the speaker is connected (can't remember if the Ultra-D has an onboard speaker) does it give any POST beep errors?
Hi, Thanks for the reply. I have taken everything out of the case now. I have tried it with the ram in, and as you say with just CPU & Motherboard & Speaker but it doesnt power up. I've noticed the LED in the bottom left is on, but the top one near the memory slots isn't. When I push the power the LED at the top turns on for a second, the psu fan starts up and then turns itself back off. Total Duration: 3 Secs Ive tried two diffrent power supplies and I still have the same result. Any Ideas?
Tried that too, it powers on for ~2 Seconds then turns off, the LED at the bottom left is on but the one near the ram slots only comes on when I touch the power button and then it turns off. Further help appriciated. theres a bit of dust on the board, could that be a problem at all?
if your not getting any motherboard beeps, and your sure the psu is fine then id hazard a guess at the mobo being fubar'ed
