I believe it depends on how many dead pixels it has. Just one and it's unlikely, more and 5 then probably.

Hmmm what about if i dont mention the dead pixel, get a refund then go to another pc world and if im lucky get a screen that has 0 dead pixels?

Cant still see why there are still these problems, us consumers are paying high prices for these screens and I cant belive they cant guarantee 0 dead pixels... there should be a new rule where manufacturers can only sell tfts/lcds with 0 dead/lazy pixels. :p

    [/rant] lol.

If you bought it recently (like the last 2 weeks or something), you should be able to return if for no reason whatsoever. The sooner you go into the store, the better.

I buddy of mine took one back and part exchanged for a bigger one because it had a dead pixel. Not sure if that was PC world though.

I've only ever bought a couple of things from PC World and as for their returns policy, they were excellent I took a dead motherboard in and they replaced it without even testing the old one.
Unfortunately this was the period when DFI mobo's would last a week at best, so after my second replacement failed they offered a full refund.
    Can't complain about that.

That only works under the distance selling laws (i.e. internet or mail order purchases) where you can return within seven days without penalty.

I returned an external HDD caddy to PC World today and they exchanged it for another with no fuss - just a receipt. I had purchased it last weekend though, so if you find a dead pixel, the sooner the better for returns.

Usually saying it was a present but the wrong one works if you need an excuse.

As for dead pixels, some monitors are made to a standard that they aren't allowed any, the cheaper monitors will however be much slacker with the amount of dead pixels allowed.

But some shops offer a returns policy where you can return items within a set period for a refund or exchange. I'm guessing PC World do this, it does seem like the norm with the major retailers.

This is simply because the average Joe don't want to pay that little extra for it.

If you're returning it due to the dead pixels, then you *might* be able to get a refund, depending on the monitor class. See the explanation here for the actual figures.

I work for Currys which is part of the same group as PCWorld, and although I can't vouch for their strictness, as long as you return the item within a couple of weeks you should be fine to get a refund etc.

    Thanks alot for the replies.

The screen will be a 22" samsung, so im hoping thats a good enough monitor :).

I shall be going there Tuesday then, fingers crossed i'll get no dead pixels!! otherwise it'll be another trip down there ;).

Also i was wondering <A88> as you work in currys if i go to Pcworld will they most likely give me an exchange? would they be able to give me a refund if I request one?

    Thanks!

i work in pc world (unfortunatly) but 7 days is usually the set time inwhich you can return it, on the cheaper monitors though you have to have AT LEAST 5 dead pixels (though i return these anyway as i believe like you they shouldnt have any!) the samsung should be fine but before you by the easiest way to make sure is ask if they can check on the return policy for that model. also ask for them to print it out (takes 2 mins) and you'll be fine.

Just say that the problem just shows some times after a few hours of use. They can't prove you wrong.

Its usually a replacement within 1st 28 days, otherwise following the given service route for whatever model you buy which changes quite frequently. I could be dealt with by the manufacturer, a straight swap, or off for repair with another company.
