Can anyone confirm if this Asus P9X79 Deluxe motherboard supports PCI-E 3.0 natively?

    http://ie.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_2011/P9X79_DELUXE/

Reason being if you was to upgrade to Ivy Bridge E, would the likes of Asus and Gigbyte upgrade their X79 motherboards to support PCI-E 3.0 natively? If this is supported on the chip itself?

In other words, would Asus bring out a new flagship X79 to replace the current one, once IVy Bridge E is released?

Of course they will lol But the board does support PCI-E 3.0 if the chip supports PCI-E 3.0. Sandy Bridge-E only supports 2.0. Ivy Bridge-E will of course support 3.0.

So basically even if you upgrade the cpu, you'll still be behind in the race to have the latest tech, with the launch of new X79 motherboads supporting Ivy Bridge E and it's features.

Presumably yes. I can't see motherboard manufacturers not capitlising on a new range of CPUs being launched. I'm also guessing there'll be some sort of new chipset as well. Like Z68/Z77. Though that's just me having a guess.

However, you'll still have the latest tech excluding the board and it's hardly going to make a difference to user experience.

Woah, woah, woah... X79 and the 3930K/3960X can all do PCIe 3.0, its just some motherboards can't run 680's/670's at those speeds because nVidia's drivers are having issues with them, while they certify them: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/310170-12-pcie

In that case it's worth waiting to build an X79 rig untill Ivy Bridge E is released.

Odd given that Intel list all LGA2011 CPUs as PCI-E 2.0.

This x2. For the record all our X79 boards are qualified for Gen-3 performance. :)

They will support future CPUs as well.

Are you saying if you were to purchase an X79 motherboard now, it would fully support all features Ivy Bridge has to offer?

Then again, you still have the issue of GTX680's not running to full potential.

    Good :)

Could of done with you the other day ;)

For the record I did have to update the BIOS to 1203 as had a couple lock ups with the Nvidia work-around patch for the 680s. Seems to have done the job!

ALL the features? Impossible to say for any company until the BIOS development is done. I don't know when the CPUs will be ready/if there's a new chipset etcetc (for those who remember the X79 history pre-launch will know what I mean). There will be, at least, compatibility though.
