So im not upgrading my platform upgrade till DDR5 is out as DDR4 is towards the end of its life now so im keeping the x58 dream alive till 2019 (Would of had this platform 10 years then!)

Im looking at getting a PCI-e bootable m.2 drive, which obviously isn't natively supported on x58.
But with some tinkering its possible with people reporting much higher performance than SATA3.

    The guide im using:
    https://audiocricket.com/2016/12/31/booting-samsung-sm961-on-asus-p6t-se-mainboard/

    Other peoples sucess:
    https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...stem-with-m-2-pci-adaptor-can-it-work.231611/

Looks like Samsung have legacy firmware in there SSD's which makes the process is a lot easier.
Something that no other manufacturer has.

Im starting out making the USB with the DUET loaded and ready before investing into the hardware but having some troubles.

Step 6. CD to unpacked DUET folder.... What does he mean by this?
I skipped that step and tried to continue with the command prompt stage but the command isn't recognized so i guess its detrimental.

Also has anyone else tried anything like this? any tips would be great.

The issue you’re going to run into is the fact it isn’t UEFI and there is no native support for it whatsoever prior to X99. I had to modify the UEFI on X79 to get it to boot.

I don’t know if it’s possible on X58, simply because it’s too old. Give it a try and let us know what happens. :D

I have a PCIE to NVME only card if you want it? I think the screw is missing so you would need to make one.

"CD to" in that context means to change directory.

    For example:
    cd d:\porn

You'll just use the drive letter for the USB drive and whatever folder name you have there instead of d and porn.
