    Hello!

I'm building a server, and have a question regarding using the main x16 PCI-E graphics card slot for a RAID controller rather than a graphics card. Can I do this?

    As an example:

Can I use this board's onboard graphics, and then use it's main x16 graphics slot to run a x4 or x8 RAID controller?

    Thanks.

Yep, you can put any PCIe card into a x16 slot. From x1 to x16 cards, doesn't matter

Woohoo! £30 mobo with on-board graphics! I can now afford a proper on-board XOR processing RAID card :)

for a server are you going to be limiting yourself with only two ram slots?

I'd need more than 4GB of RAM for a file server? Why?

Yeah.. just a file server with a hardware RAID card, so even the processor won't have much to do.
