This might sound like a stupid question but.....

Is there a beneficial difference of the XFX 6800 GT between the PCI-Express and the AGP version?

I was going to buy the AGP version but with the new Abit mobo out soon, i was wondering if it was worth waiting and buying the PCI-Express version.

You can run two in SLI with PCI-E. But apart from that, I believe that we're actually nowhere near the point where the limit of bandwidth of AGP cards is limited by the bandwidth of the AGP slot. The main advantage is the SLI.

Id argue the main advantage is futureproofing and resellability. If you buy an AGP card now you will HAVE to upgrade it when you buy a new mobo in the future and what's more - the resellability will be very little for a top range AGP card. If people want AGP cards for their 2nd systems theyll more than likely want a mid-range, cheap-as-possible.

You can already see that people are having to sell their high end AGP cards for a lot less than they would have been able to before PCI-E came out. It's why I'm waiting for a MATX board that supports PCI-E before I change graphics cards again :) .
